When should I record food (Is midnight the next day?)

After logging on to MFP after midnight, I noticed that It was a new day in terms of my calorie limit. It got me thinking- What day do I mark calories down as if I have a snack after midnight? Would it be the previous day or the new day? Before I've always counted the new day after I've slept, but is that right? Does it even matter? Just interested really! Thanks

Based on my search using the word "midnight" I found: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/709798-snacking-after-midnight?hl=midnight#posts-10424888
Won't really matter when you log it as long as you log it.0 -
I deal with this a lot, as I work nights. I basically track a day as being from when I wake up until I go to bed (roughly 5:30 pm to 9:30 am). If I need to add things after midnight has rolled past, I just scroll back to the previous day. I generally have my day of food entirely planned out before I leave for work though, so it usually isn't a concern for me.0

I have this same issue as well. I'm up ~1330 and go to work at night, I get home ~0430-0500, and in bed by 0700-0730.
From the time I wake up to the time I go to bed is when I set my "Day" at. So even if its Wednesday morning @0600 and I'm eating before bed, I still count that as Tuesday.0 -
Do what works best for you. I work 3rd shift and I consider it the same day until I actually go to bed. Every person is different though so just figure out what makes the most sense for your schedule.0

I usually record all my food before I sleep, I am not sure about waking up and snacking though lol half and half ?0

I work nights 7 pm to 7:30 am. I log my calories from noon today until noon tomorrow as 1 day.0

I count going to bed and waking up the next day....0

It doesn't really matter when you log as long as you do it. I work third shift like other posters, but I start my new day at midnight, it's just easier for me that way. I usually eat my last meal of the day around 7pm so it's usually not an issue. However, if I happen to be close to or over on calories but find myself wanting a snack later (happens very rarely) I can wait until midnight and it is a new day.0

I log between sleep boughts; so from when i wake up until the time i crawl into bed to fall asleep again (not counting naps)0

does not matter, the math all evens out in the end
And your body does not switch over at midnight
So do whatever works best for you0 -
I'll echo all of the above - it doesn't matter as long as you record it!
I always record my dinners in the next day (so I record Monday nights dinner on Tuesday) because I never quite know what I will have for dinner or how many calories it will be and this lets me eat accordingly on the following day (e.g. the Tuesday breakfast, lunch and snacks).0
