...working the night shift. I start a new job on Monday from 11pm to 7am. I know that it is going to effect my eating and sleeping patterns and I have never worked overnight before. Any advice to keep me on track or prepare me for the change?

Cover your bedroom windows in tin foil or bristol board. Make sure you use something like black duct tape to seal the foil to the window frame. You will need to have the room really dark to sleep. Also use ear plugs to make the daytime noises outside your house/apartment quieter. Find out if you do best trying to go to sleep as soon as you get home, or if its better for you to go to sleep later and wake up just to get ready for work. Different people need different routines, some need to wind down before the can sleep, others need to wind up before they can psyche themselves to go to work. You might want to not work out before you sleep as for some people it disrupts their sleep.

I'd just shift your normal pattern around so if 7am in the normal 9-5 world is 5pm then id go about my normal life like this.0
