Am I eating too little calories or exercising too much?

MFP has set my calorie intake to 1410 calories per day (2 lbs of weight loss per week) and MFP has set my calories to burn goal at 1430 per week. I eat the majority of my meals at work and consume roughly 1000-1200 calories as I try to eat the majority of my calories during the day, making dinner my smallest meal.

Last week seems to be typical for me - my goal to burn is 1430 but I burned an additional 750 calories over MFPs suggestion and I don't eat back ALL of my calories that I burned because its late by the time I get home, exercise and walk the dog.

Tonight I compared measurements from mid-August and inch for inch, I have not lost a bit! I am exactly the same as I was. I don't want to even look at a scale because I have a feeling it hasn't budged.

Is it possible that I'm exercising too many calories off and putting my body into a starvation mode?

I forgot to add - once I am done with my workout, I usually close the day around a 200 calorie deficit.
  • you need 1200 calories each day to cover just normal activities

so if you exercise and burn 300 calories you need to consumer 1500 calories (1200 + 300), MINIMUM.

for awhile i was exercising like crazy but not eating any more and definitely got frustrated. I've found by eating more I'm losing more.

Also - a colleague of mine swears to the idea of eating every 2-3 hours. This way your body "realizes" you have a constant flow of food and will not "hold onto" extra fats, calories, etc. that you may need in times of starvation. Same thing goes for drinking water. Supposedly the more water you drink the less water you retain because again your body "realizes" you have a constant flow of water coming in and therefore doesn't need to save it when it gets it.
