This is such a victory for me...it's HUGE!

I was going to have something else for dinner today, but the kids put some of these in the oven and the smell was so good...I changed my mind and had this for dinner. These are Trader Joe's Mini-Chicken Tacos (and they are really very small--5 of them equal 238 calories:love: ). I am so proud of myself for ONLY eating 5 of them with NO sour cream (I used to drown these in sour cream) and would normally have even at least 10 of these with no problem. I'm on a mission and my mission is to stay within my calorie allowance.

My secret to becoming more than satisfied with these little yummies was literally chewing eat bite of a taco 32 times, (YEP, THIRTY-TWO TIMES) until the bite almost turned to liquid (sounds gross I know), but WOW....chewing this many times REALLY helped me to feel like I was eating FAR more than I actually did. eating that last one, I could hardly wait until I was done, because I was getting so TIRED of chewing!!! I drank a 16.9 oz bottle of water before eating them and some more water afterwards, and I feel like I just ate an five normal sized chicken tacos :drinker: I'm totally filled and thrilled:drinker:

Keeping moderation in the amount of food you eat will make you feel so empowered. Plus you will love what the scales has to say

32 times each?! 160 chews... I can see why you were tired! Lol.

Good job staying on track with the calories. That's hard to do with such good food around. Way to go! :)

Girl honey YES I was tired of chewing and could hardly wait to finish the last bite! I've been practicing chewing my food 32 times for the past two weeks, so it's getting easier--but MAN, talk about tired of chewing:embarassed: is RIGHT!

ETA: Actually, I just calculated how many times I chewed those bad boys--it was FAR more than 160 chews...it was  480 chews:noway:

I took about three bites of each the little tacos and that times the five tacos times 32 times is 480 chews:indifferent:

    More power to ya!
I might have to give that chewing thing a try, sounds like it's working great for you.

    ...32 times per bite...

    ...I'm motivated...but I don't think I could every be that motivated...

But ignoring my lack of ability to do something like that, congratulations! Hearing the ways other people moderate there food really opens my eyes, as I'd never be able to chew 32 times per bite. I'm a texture eater and it'd just get too nasty for me, haha. Keep up the great work..! :drinker:

Bean tacos are my weakness! I can eat a family pack on my own. I have to throw them out if I can't resist. So I admire you!

I've not totally mastered this "art" but the more I do it...the more easier it gets. It's actually quite shocking how before I conscientiously began doing this--how I would literally almost swallow my food WHOLE  with just a couple of chews.

Chewing my food this many times does something to me "psychologically" I reckon, because I "seem" to get fuller faster with far less food. Also it works for me "physically" too...because I get so blasted tired of chewing--it's helping me with portion control--BIG-TIME! It's not that bad, as far as the texture is concerned, because chewing these many times also helps the taste and flavor linger much much MUCH longer than gobbling stuff down and having it go down my throat like an animal or something:laugh:
