Hi ive read theres this diet which recommends women under 5 foot eat 1100 a day with occasionally a day of 1600 calories. Just wondering if there was any evidence base behind this. Pre this weigt loss thing if i didnt eat all the chpcolate i was eating i would have eaten about this much. Im sometimes eating while feelong full to get to 1200- i guess coz im eating more protein than i ever have before

I'm a petite little person. I'm 5'2 and a size 8 (by choice, I like my big butt, really I do) I generally eat somewhere between 1200-1550 cals a day.. I do have some 1100 days because I refuse to eat when I'm not hungry. I try to look at my calories over the course of a week, instead of a day. I generally make up for my low calorie days later in the week, the phone app makes that easy to do because there's a "weekly" tab.
I couldn't do the "eat more to weigh less" camp if I wanted to, my body just does not work that way. After a year and a half of loosing weight, playing with calories, etc etc I've found what works for me. And just because something works for me, doesn't mean it'll work for someone else just because we're both petite. 1100 every single day does sound a bit low to me and I think after a few days of that, I'd be more than a bit grumpy. While I'm generally not hungry, I know that I'm not eating enough when I get super pissy all of the time.0 -

I agree it sounds liek they arelooking at the weekly average or cyclling calories. That works for some people.0

I'm 5'0 and I eat 1500 a day. I started at 1200 and lost 26 lbs over 6 months. I realized that eating that low was not going to cut it for the long term. I did some research, found my BMR and TDEE and am now happily eating about 1500 a day, still working out and haven't gained any weight. I've been at 1500 for almost 5 months. I am now 107 lbs. I wouldn't recommend anything less than 1200 even if you are cycling calories. My BMR is just a tad over 1200.0
