Just curious, would I be wrong to assume that the female to male ratio on MFP is about 5:1 ?

I'd go with 4.48:1.

You would be right to assume that you have seen active participation of more females than males on the boards you look at maybe.
Women are more inclined to be supportive and interact with each other.
But...ther is no way to do the math without the actual membership numbers.0 -

Yes and not enough monkeys.
Agreed.0 -
This means that men need to post up extra amounts of pictures of their chests :bigsmile:0

According to Quantcast, the site is about two thirds women. This is a measure of website traffic, though, and not membership.
Other interesting factoids about MFPers:
- we tend to be 25-44 years old
- we're a rather educated bunch.
- most earn over $50k per year, with over half earning over $100k
- lots of white folk
- even though it seems like there is an abundance of mommies, it's actually about half w/kids and half w/out
-11% are under 18 (even though they aren't supposed to be members!)

The site is geared more towards losing weight than muscle building which I think partially explains the ratio. The logo is also a woman in mid jump.0

I tried to get my boyfriend to join....But after looking over my shoulder and reading topic titles such as "Do men prefer women with teeth or toenails?" and "Should I eat my exercise calories?" (5 topics in a row) and "Has anyone tried the rabbit poo diet?"
...he decided the site wasn't for him...
Lets make this site more man-friendly. My thoughts: Bacon layout!0 -

I saw a statistic that matches well with the cartoon above. On average, women communicate over 5000 words per day, whereas men communicate about 500. *wait* I just ran out of words0 -
The question is; which is 'further' evolved, the need to talk more or less?
:P0 -
I think it's because guys are hot no matter what.
Well, speaking of the fit ones of course. Or even chubby ones. They pull it off so well because they are too damn hot. Easier to lose it anyway. Damn you gorgeous genes!!0
