the pouch nightmare

So I have a question for ladies or men maybe you know...I do cardio - I do abs but how does one get rid of that pouch below the belly button- I have been a big girl for quite some time and have lost 53 lbs since mid-August . I work out 3-4 times a week and I see inches going especially from my legs..but the pouch remains.

So again just asking for suggestions to target that area? Either at the gym - like a machine I should out on or at home.

Thanks

There is no way that you can target fat loss to a particular area. All you can do is target the area with resistance training for toning but this will not remove the layer of fat above the muscles. The only way to loose the fat there is keep burning more calories than you consume and you will eventually loose it there.

Some days a feel my pouch more than others, but it definitely going away...now I just have that Freddy Kruger looking skin. I do a lot of core muscle workouts. I learned a lot of really good moves from Jillian Michael's 30 day shred.

I have had 2 c-sections and have a major "shelf" down there from that. I started doing P90X abs and that has really helped make my shelf smaller. I have only been doing the abs and none of the other exercises yet. I do it 2-3 times a week and now 3 weeks later I have really noticed a difference. I know it will never look perfect but it does look a lot better. Before I was doing a variety of abs and I got rid of most of it that way, but was never able to get rid of the last annoying bit until I started doing these. Plus it has helped with the left over love handles too! I am a runner so for the rest of my work out I will run 6-8 miles per day and that didn't even get rid of my shelf. Good luck!
  • The first place you gain weight is the last place you'll lose it. At least that's what I hear from my hardcore fitness friends. Keep up those ab reps, because they'll give you the toned look you want once the fat goes away. And don't consume a lot of artificial sweeteners.

Core work can help make the shelf smaller and tighten it a bit.
  • Keep doing cardio and abs...but the ugly truth is you may always have a little "pouch." Genetics has a lot to do with where our fat stores. I will never have a flat tummy, even at 115 pounds! Don't ever give up on making it smaller though!
