Now, this isn't something I would normally do (posting on a forum) but having been through a lot of previous posts and seeing the support everyone gives each other, I thought I would give it a whirl!
Hi! Long and short of my being here? I need to lose about 90-100lbs. I've tried Weight Watchers, Slimming World, SlimFast etc, in my (many) years of trying to shift my bulk. It works, don't get me wrong. But I get bored and fall off the wagon so to speak. I lack any sort of confidence so going to classes and having to talk about my weight and eating habits in front of strangers is not my cup of tea!
So, taking my brothers advice, I downloaded the MyFitnessPal app on my phone. I also began the rather ambitious task of replacing my breakfast and lunch with MaxiMuscle Promax Diet shakes, increasing my fruit and water intake, and attempting to use the gym that i've been paying for!
So far, so good. According to the scales i've managed to lose 6lbs in the 3 days of doing this (I wanted to wait the full 7 days before weighing myself but I just couldn't resist!)
Does anyone have any advice regarding long term weight loss, motivation, anything inspirational?

Feel free to add me. I am not a super "loser" I am down 31 pounds in 9 months, but I am a consistent logger and will be here to help if I can. I'm a single, middle age, super busy mom of two kids - so I know how hard it is to do this. My first few months were all about FOOD - learning about it, measuring it, new foods to eat, cook, and what to limit.
The fourth month I added in Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - wow did that help. I dropped serious inches off my back, mid-section, hips. I had reached my 30 pound goal by 9/30/12 and have set new goals for 12/30/12 and the next two quarters after that.
There is tremendous support on MFP - I hope it works as well for you as it has for me!

It's nice to know everyone supports one another!
Out of interest, are most people on this site American? I've come across a lot of things I can't say i've heard of in England0 -
Hi.. welcome to the site
I'm sort of in the same boat as you. I've always been able to lose weight but then I stop losing and go back to my old habits and re-gain all the weight back.
I'm hardly an expert at giving advice on long-term weight loss therefore, but I just wanted to say that what I've decided to do now is to stop thinking of this as a diet and rather a lifestyle change. I'm sure you've heard that before many times, but changing my mindset has made weight loss enjoyable and not a struggle like it has been previously. This time I can actually eat! Whereas with diets I was always left starving and looking drained out and awful.0 -
I defiantly agree it shouldn't be thought of as a diet, but as a lifestyle change. God only knows why i've decided to cut out 2 meals a day! But actually, in some strange way, it makes sense to me. Before the shakes I would be hungry, and eat for the sake of needing to eat but never really enjoying food. But because i'm always in 'diet' mode, when i'm not, I feel as though it's my god given right to eat what the hell I want haha. But now I dont need to make any decisions, and even my evening meals taste more delicious. Probably due to not eating all day though
Don't get me wrong, the shakes have been a struggle. I've been going to bed hungry and waking up hungry knowing I wont be 'eating' anything until a lot later in the day. But I know it's only going to get easier. And while im on these shakes, my stomach will shrink, and when I stop the shakes i'm hoping I will no longer eat like a horse anymore!0 -

Do whatever works for you. Everyone is different, what works for one person won't work for another. As long as you're losing weight and feel great, you should continue0
