2500 + calories a day??

So i was reading around on some of the boards here on MFP and stumbled on something about the website fat2fitradio.com followed the steps on the post and it says i should be eating about 2500 or more calories a day to loose weight! I know about the "starvation mode" and eating more to weigh less and it kinda makes since to eat a little more to get your body to stop storing fat cells but that just seems like a lot of calories, plus its hard to eat that many "healthy" calories in one day! my cal goal right now is 1750 and i usually go under i am doing the 30 day shred and im losing slowly since july i have lost 18 lbs :) but anyway..does this seem right? could it really work to eat that much? It seems a little crazy to me! and i just got out of the 200's today i dont wanna go back by trying to eat more lol i need some advice!

I'm 6' and I'm at 2400 calories a day, so that seems excessive. As for starvation mode, it's time for some Google research.

Given all of the adipose tissue you have that your body can use as fuel, 2500 calories would be senseless for you. From what I have seen, the bigger you are the fewer calories you can get by on every day, so long as you at least meet maintenance for your body's vital functions. There's a reason that lean powerlifters (sub 10% bf) have to eat 3500+ calories per day. They have very few fat stores to run on.

So many people seem to forget that fat stores serve the natural purpose of providing an energy source for when food is scare. It's easy to see why this is easy to forget in the modern western society where food is NEVER scarce, unless you fall into a giant hole and no one finds you for days or weeks.

My motto is if it ain't broke- DON'T FIX IT! If what you are doing is working for you- go with it! Only tweak if you stop seeing results.
