Work out fasted or not - not much difference..I can do weights fasted, I cannot run more than 5kms fasted.....
As long as you get a good balance of complex carbs, protein, good fats etc...
Agree on the lifting first and then cardio...Otherwise I'm as weak as a baby lifitng after a run...

dont need to train fasted... whatever is needed to get a better workout, some people work out better fasted, i personally have to eat a meal before i go to the gym.

complex carbs are basic guidelines to get leaner without knowing much about nutrition or fitness so i say keep doin that.

and do the warm up cardio before and REAL cardio after doing weights.. for the most part ur trainer is on the right track except for the fasted part.

She said that working out fasted speeds up the metabolism. I go to Bikram yoga fasted but I feel i would need energy from calories if I were to hit the gym hard core

I'm not sure that it's scientifically proven that fasted exercise speeds up metabolism but plenty of people swear it does. Sometimes I go the gym hungry and the hunger goes away and other times I feel really weak and struggle through the workout.

not sure if this is just me or what, but IF i eat anything too heavy, or sometimes if I eat at all right before lifting weights, I get light headed and fatigue.. So for me its better not to eat right before but only because the way it makes me feel

    not sure this is normal

I get a stitch in my side if I try to run after eating - even if I wait a couple of hours. When I hit the gym in the morning before eating I don't have any trouble.

It's a highly individual thing. Some people do very well training while fasted, while others nearly keel over after five minutes of hard activity under the same circumstances.

This is one of those things kinda like the "eat six small meals instead of three big ones" crap. It's pseudoscience at it's best. Both have been proven to work for some people but not others.

If I skip the gym one day should I skip on carbs?

As long as your average intake of calories and macronutrients is reasonable towards your goals and activity, it isn't going to make a big difference whether or not your intake closely matches activity on that particular day. Some people prefer to eat less on rest days and more on training days, other people do just fine with a more static intake.

Regarding fasted training -- if your trainer is aware that your preference is to train fed and he/she is still recommending you train fasted, I would really question this.

Fasted training (to my knowledge) doesn't speed up your metabolism. In lean individuals it may help in mobilization of fatty acids but it's not boosting your metabolism. Additionally, your trainer has to factor in performance. If your preference is fed training, I would assert that you will perform better fed. This alone, makes fed training the right decision.

EDIT: And while I can't tell by your .avi, the vast majority aren't lean enough to a point that fasted cardio will really make a difference. TL;DR - personal preference should dictate your decision of fed vs fasted training.

I train fasted because I prefer it.

Agree with the above. I am not aware of any metabolic advantage to fasted training. Your preference is what you should do. Other than that, your trainer's recommedations are good.
