how did you set your goal?

I'm 5'4" and have set my goal at 126lbs, which is right in the middle of my healthy weight range on the NHS BMI Calculator. I'm just at the top of the healthy range at the moment, so it feels achievable, but I know I can always move it downwards if I'm not happy.

So, how did you set yours? And is it cast in stone?

I set mine by aiming to be 8 stone which I was years before gaining the two extra stone of weight in my twenties. It is a moveable feast though, because I'm now slightly less than that. You know your 'happy weight/shape' when you get there. Just see how you get on...

I set my goal weight based on a goal body fat percentage. I'm pretty much set to go to maintenance for the winter, as I have zero desire to go through an Alberta winter with a body fat much lower than where I am right now, then continue on to my ultimate goal in the spring.

I actually struggle with this. I've never been a "healthy weight" since I was a kid, so I don't really know where I'm aiming for. BMI charts say 144-194 for my height, but that's a huge range. I figured I'd shoot for 200, and see how I look/feel there. If I have more fat to lose, I'll go further.

Similar, I'm 5'5'' and aiming for 126lb - as I'm English and that would make me 9 stone. A nice round number to aim for I thought.
Once there, I'll see how I feel but as I do body pump and am lifting pretty good weights on that I do have a nice amount of muscle on me too, so it does feel like a reasonable weight.
Not far off now, just 4lb to go.

I've been there before so I figured it was a good point to start and then re-*kitten* if I need to. I know that if I go lower than about 135 I start to look sickly with my bone structure (been there) so 140 should be about perfect . I'm 5'6 with large bones :)

I went with the top of my BMI range for weight. This also meant that I'd be losing a total of 100 pounds from where I started in January 2010. I haven't been anywhere near that healthy range for 20 years or so and remember being in the 140's back then. However, I am much more active/athletic than I was then so I know my lean body mass (LBM) weight will be higher. Also, my body frame medium to large so there's just no way I could get to the bottom of the range and be healthy.

No, it's not set in stone. Once I get to 157 (I'm 5'7"), I'll have my body fat measured again and will re-assess. For me, the most important part of all this is being able to make any changes long term. If I can lose another 5-10 pounds (and/or a few percentages of body fat) easily without having to drastically alter my eating and/or exercise, I'll go for it. But I'll be pretty happy just being in that healthy range and knowing I've made HUGE changes in my life to be healthier and more fit than I have ever been.
