Hello everyone,
Last year I started using MFP while I was doing P90X so that I had some hard data showing that my efforts were helping me lose weight and look better. At the end of my P90X venture, I lost 30 lbs and was able to wear 34-waist jeans again. I hadn't done that since high school! I felt on top of the world, especially when my friends and family were taking notice of how much better I looked and felt.
After finishing P90X, I felt like I had a general idea of how much I should eat, and how often. My dillema at the time was, what was I going to do to keep on exercising? So I started riding a bicycle and doing moderate weight training. I felt I was doing well enough that I didn't think I needed to log my daily calories and exercise anymore. My wife took a vacation for my birthday at the beginning of the year, and since then, I've slacked. I started losing momentum, and motivation to work out again. When my jeans started getting a little snug, I told her we needed to start working out again.
We started working out again last week. At weigh in, I took notice I had gained 8 lbs since we stopped exercising. I took to MFP to do what I did the first time, and it's already proving successful. I'm back down to 213 lbs, and I'm going to keep pushing to get to the 200 lb goal I set for myself the first time. All I have to say is, without MFP, I'm lost!

Me too! Knowledge is power and at this point in my life, I don't have enough knowledge about putting the right nutrients in my body. I have been doing this for almost 10 months, but I feel that I still have a lot to learn. I will be here for quite a while. Which is OK by me :drinker:0

I did the same. Used MFP last year, lost 11 pounds, stopped using it, gained 8 back. Now I'm using it again and I'm so happy. I've never had a ton of weight to lose (which means it comes off sooo SLOWLY) but this past year I let myself get very, very soft, and I was really unhappy with how unhealthy I looked and felt. So, about six weeks ago, I stopped smoking (finally, it's taken years to really put it down), cut out beer, started MFP again, and committed to exercising at least 1-1.25 hours per day for 5 days a week (I mix up RI30 and 30DS 5 days a week, and I walk 1 mile up and 1 mile down a mountain with my dog 5 days a week... it's steep and quite the workout! Some days I throw in a PM yoga routine.) I've really only lost a pound so far, but I've gained a ton of muscle and lost a lot of inches so i don't really care about the scale when the clothes are fitting so much better, and I know the weight will come off eventually if I stick to it.0
