Dear 1200 calorie eaters...

Can't we all just get along?

There are always debates on MFP about calorie goals, and I think we've all been a part of at least one in the time we've been here. From what I've seen, it started with people who eat higher calories jumping on people who eat lower calories, and now the 1200 calorie people are getting annoyed and becoming defensive.

Here's the thing. If you post something on here that's NOT related to your calorie goal, and I happen to see through your profile or something you've said that you eat 1200 calories, I'm not going to say anything. It's irrelevant to the discussion at hand. BUT if you are ASKING FOR ADVICE because your weight loss has stalled, and you don't know what to do, and myself and others see that you're eating somewhere around 1200 calories, chances are we're going to recommend you increase them and see if that helps you. Going lower is generally a bad idea and not recommended, whereas going up could make a world of difference for you. We're not saying it to be mean, or because we're jumping to conclusions about your body and health. You asked for advice and got it -- it just wasn't what you wanted to hear.

It also doesn't help if people who eat lower calories imply that they have more discipline than someone who eats higher calories. I understand that you have to really be careful about what you eat when your calories are lower, but that doesn't give you the right assume that people who eat higher calories are eating junk, or that you are BETTER than people who eat more. You are not. You just chose to lose weight in a different way.

/End rant

I hope I haven't offended anyone -- it truly was not my intention. I just think we need to all make peace and respect each other, but also LISTEN to opposing points of view instead of lashing out.
