NSV... but why was it so uncomfortable?

Have you ever had someone who hasn't seen you in awhile just fawn all over your weight loss?

Flattery is awesome, but sometimes people are so stunned that they really make me uncomfortable when they go on and on. I'm not sure if I know how to take compliments. It's always nice to get positive feedback about anything you do, but when someone pays me a compliment, it's like getting hit with a pillow in a pillow fight. I'm generally stunned and not sure what to say.

So... when a co-worker saw me today (and he hasn't seen me in almost a year), he kept going on and on for several minutes, I felt really uncomfortable and wasn't sure what to say.

Does this happen to anyone else?

A little complimenting is nice and motivating. A lot makes you question how much of a troll they must have thought you were before the weight loss.

I get uncomfortable when they keep pushing for information I don't want to share. I don't like discussing exactly how much I've lost or how much more I plan to lose. Or my clothes sizes lost/current size.

"Thanks, I've been working hard" is my normal response, but when they go on and on, there is only so many times you can say thank you without beginning to feel awkward.

I figure their hearts are in the right place, so I don't let it get to me, but I get why it's sometimes uncomfortable.

It makes me really uncomfortable most of the time - especially if they go on and on or really looking me up and down.

Sometimes I wish that I could move to a place where no one knew me and what I looked like before but thats not likely to happen, lol.

I had the same thing happened to me this past week. We went out bowling with my entire family this past weekend and haven't seen most of them for at least 2 months. I had only lost about 7 pounds, but I lost a lot of inches as well. Any how, he just kept going on and on all night long about how great/skinny/healthy I was looking. The first time was nice because I was hoping someone in the family would notice, but when it came to the 4th and 5th time, I wanted to just scream. However, he was getting pretty drunk so I blame it on the alcohol haha.

Depends on who it is. If I like the person, I enjoy the attention...if I don't like them, I don't want to hear from them, no matter what they are saying!
