Athletic shoes any advice on good ones?

I am going through sneakers like crazy. I know i buy cheap ones, my fault. I really need a decent pair. I am pretty much a cross trainer but will run outside more as the weather gets nicer. I also do boot camp type of training. Any suggestions on styles, types and stores to buy? Thanks so much. I pretty much cannot do anything more on the shoes i currently have.

Hey, I go to Mark's Work Wearhouse (Don't know if they have them outside Canada) but if they do, you can get a pretty good pair there! Quite expensive though, almost $80 I think, but they have a quad comfort system and I've been on my feet all day with them, and my feet aren't hurting at all! You should check those out!0

New balance you want to buy them at a foot locker or an athlets foot though. Expensive! They will last you a long time. They sell them at Kohls but not as good as at the other two stores. My mom's physical therapist and my podiatrist ( I have foot problems). Also my sister in law loves her Avia's which she got at sears for 24 bucks and 1/2 off 2nd. pair. Good luck!0

Wife runs 3 miles a day (more on weekends) and swears by Brooks. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Brooks-Sports/8595605828 . Even good shoes should be changed every 6 months--even if you spend $150 or $200! (and no that's not how much we spend)--, and if you can have a pair just dedicated to working out that's best. The wife makes the old workouts the new non-workout pair.
I love my Brooks too, but I don't run like she does. ;-)
If you don't have a local running store nearby ask for the running specialist at the nearby mega-chain. They'll help you with whether you need stability vs not, i.e. do you pronate or not, etc. Good socks and good shoes, changed at regular intervals make all the difference in the world. Do your homework.0 -
if there is an athletic/running store near you then i recommend going in and getting "fitted" for shoes----where they have a treadmill and will watch you walk/run to see how your feet hit and if you over/under pronate.....it should be a free service at a running store....i used to wear cheap shoes, then i broke down and bought sauconys---they are a good brand and all the runners i know swear by them, but it turns out they are not the right kind for my feet, so even though i had bought "good" shoes they were no good for me!0

My skinny runner sister (who is also a physical therapist) swears by Asics. I do not like new balance at ALL. They suck for me, and totally give me shin splints when I walk long distances. There's a way to twist and turn the shoe to see how likely it is to give you shin splints.
I found some pink and gray Asics Gel 105s last week at Kohl's for $13.99. They are a perfect fit and I wear them only for working out. That's another important thing, to keep your workout shoes strictly for working out, not also for kicking around in. I think it's a matter of finding what works for you.0
