c25k extended want friends

This is what I am looking to do:
I want to do the couch 2 5k program but im going to enlongate it from 8 weeks to 8 months. So each week in the program i will repeat 4 times. I am doing this for 2 reasons. First I was a runner in High School and had problems with my knees and shin splints so I want to give myself time to properly strengthen these areas to prevent injuries. Second i know doing it in eight weeks will be to much for me to handle. As i loose weight each month it will become easier and less stress on the joints used in running.
For those of you who were able to do the program in 8 weeks i truely applaud you, its just not for me. I want to extend it and give my body time to make this a lifestyle.

Anyone interested in doing this with me?
Possibly someone with similiar goals.. I am 236 looking to loose about 100lbs.
