10lbs = 1 size?

10 lbs for me was the difference between tight and comfortable and I'm a pretty small person at 5'3". From my heaviest to now was 17lbs and the next size down is still a little tight for pants.0
-
no, i would disagree with that.. I am 5"2 weighed 182 wore a size 14 and now I am 168 and wear a size 10.. it depends on your body, and the store you shop!0
-
Thanks for the feed back guys. Yeah, didn't think that sounded right, especially since I calculated wrong, because if this were true I would be a size 10 and I am definitely NOT a size 10. I'll be lucky to fit into a size 14.0
-
there is no set fast lb/sz ratio...I was size 22 - lost 50 lbs - now 14 - so that is 4 sizes.....don't worry about the isze number - today the sizes are scattered all over the place....I just know I can shop Misses - not Womens0

I wish it was 10lbs for me! I haven't changed sizes yet, but anticipate needing to lose 25lbs to move into a size 8. I have lost 15lbs and are still fine in my 10's.0
-
I've heard it, but it's not at all true for me. I'm down 23 and my clothes fit exactly the same. I think I'll have to be down at least 35-40 before I change sizes.0
-
It really depends on the person. I have been maintaining for a year now and switched my focus to exercise and strength training and I have gone down two sizes with no weightloss. I have heard 10 to 15 is the average for going down a size for women but I am not sure if that is true.0
-
Depends on the person and where they're dropping weight. I've lost over 40 lbs and really felt like I've gone down at most 2 sizes. I still wear the same pants, just with a belt. But I was really squeezing into my clothes before I started this.0
-
All these different responses, goes to show you how different everyone is! A 10 pound loss for me is one size smaller in jeans, but I am 5'2 1/2" and I lift weights, too, so I could put on 10 lbs and not gain a size. It all depends on where you lose or gain the weight0
-
I don't think it's truly possible to generalize xlbs lost = x sizes droppped across the board. I went up 3 sizes from gaining 15 pounds. I think it depends more on your height/frame, the way you carry your weight and you original body weight.0
-
I'm 5'7. I went from 178lbs size 14 to 130lbs size 4/60
-
It's different for everyone. After my first 20 pounds, I went down a total of two sizes, so it almost seems true...
But I have a total of 160 or 170 pounds to lose... I can't imagine losing 17 sizes :happy:0 -
I wish it was 10lbs per size! I've lost 19lbs and I'm still wearing the same size clothes although they are getting looser and looser. I think it will be another 5lbs before I'm definitely down to a UK size 14.0
-
It is for me...but it's different for everyone...as you'll see here. I went from a 14 to a 6 by losing 40 pounds.0

I was "complaining" today to a co-worker about how all of my clothes are too big, because of my knee problems, shopping was the last thing I wanted to do. She told me that for every 10lbs you lose, you go down 1 size, which would mean I'm now a size 14 (I've lost 41 lbs total). Has anyone heard this?
Its more like 15 to 20lbs for me to lose a pant/dress size. 15 if Ive been lifting weights and 20 with good old cardio. My hips take their sweet time and that is fine with me. I love them!0 -
It really depends on your size. The more weight you have to lose, the more it will take to hit the next size down. I have lost almost 40 lbs, but I'm only down 1 pant size, and I can still wear a lot of my clothes. I think another 20 lbs will put me down 1 more size, so at the weight I am at it's about 30 lbs for me to equal 1 size.0
-
I think it depends on the size. I was a size 8 when I started, and 12 lbs down I'm a 6 now.0
-
Nope i've gone from size 7 to 3. I fit into a size 2 nicely at the waist but its so tight at the knees of all places! (basically 8=7 6=5 and 2=3 why all my cloths are odd number IDK) But i've lost 20 lb so its more like 5lb=1 size.0
-
I've gone from a super tight size 22....dropped 24lbs...and am now a super lose 22 but not quite a 20. I'm also super tall so I think I need to lose a lot more between sizes. Also depends on brand, and the bigger the size seems to be that each size has more space between numbers if that makes sense.0
-
It's a stone for me, so far, though to get down to a proper size ten, it was more like 18lbs0
-
I think it depends where you're starting. When i was in plus sizes it took me 25-30 lbs to drop a size. Now its more like 15.0
-
Nope. I've lost over 20 pounds so far and haven't dropped a size yet. Clothes are getting loose, but still the same size.
I don't think there's any hard and fast rule that applies to everyone. Depends on each individual.0 -
Not in my experience. I lost 30 pounds, and am down 1 size. I'm sure there's lots of variables that come into it also. For me, inches matter in sizes more than weight.0
-
For me, I lost about 12 lbs and dropped two jean sizes. But I'm sure I gained a lot of muscle...0
-
If you're bigger it takes longer. I'm in this category so please don't think I'm being mean, but If you lose 30 pounds and go from 240 to 210 you maybe lose a size, where as if you go from 160 to 130 you'll lose a few sizes. It sucks but it's true - though of course there is always exceptions - this is just a general statement.0
-
For me its between 15-20lbs, but do to being "top heavy" my shirt sizes never go down much.
Keep up the good work.
I have learned to quit paying so much attention to size and just look at how I look and feel0 -
I'm down 28# and I haven't changed enough to warrent a whole size; some places yeah but not in general. I'm pretty close but not there yet.0
-
I love 25 lbs before I really moved a size..but I bet if i was weight training, it would have been more and faster!!0
-
Not always...Depends on a lot of things...I GAINED:drinker: 8lbs and went down a pant size after I started lifting heavy weights...
This.
It could be more than what you think depending on how you been working it!0 -
almost 60 lbs now and I've lost a size to a size and a half.0
