Southern= Coke
Midwest= Soda
West Coast=Pop (you guessed it- any carbonated sugary beverage)
Easteners also say soda and when I would visit NY from OR I would say POP nad they would look at me like I had 2 heads.South = Canal
Midwest=Crick
West = Slough or Stream
I also think there is a difference between a stream and a canal. We have a canal next to our house in FL. but I sure as heck wouldn't walk in the canal like I might in a stream.0 -

I'm not sure what part of the Midwest says "soda". I'm originally from Missouri and we always said "pop". I've gotten corrected numerous times for saying "warsh" though and a few years ago, a co-worker made fun of me for pronouncing Wisconsin Wes-consin. I never new I was pronouncing it wrong until then. :laugh:0 -
