PF always talks about being a judgement free environment well that actually means if you have no muscle you will not be judged anyone who actually knows what they are doing and have a decent amount of muscles are basically losers PF advertises it too in commercials making fun of "meatheads" or "lunks". All PF wants is money I mean come on what health club serves Pizza and bagels sounds to me like they're just trying to keep everyone out of shape so they can keep racking up them dollars

My gym is PF. Yes, they do things that seem counter productive. I literally laughed and gagged past their free pizza day, but it suits me better than a Gold's Gym. I'm not a huge, built girl, so a gym like PF helps me lift weights without the lunks walking around. It's surely a gym for people who don't live to work out, and it's much cheaper. Best advice is to simply ignore free pizza and bagel day. I perceive that as a way for them to secure a clientele with those less strong about their food intake0

I liked this retort to PF: http://youtu.be/qBRG4RkE51Q
Never been to PF, but I don't think I want to now.0 -
I have no issue with my local PF. I've been to normal gyms, where some guys slam their weights down on the ground. Gave me terrible headaches listening to the metal slam. But to each their own! Do whatever makes you feel comfortable and what you like. If you don't like PF, find another gym that makes you comfortable. Comfort is key0
-
Most gyms don't allow slamming of weights either, but banning deadlifting is an extreme response to that.
I agree about finding a place you like though. I've yet to find a gym I really love. :ohwell:0 -
my first gym was Planet Fitness and it's a great place if all you want to do is cardio machines and some weight machines. Totally worth the $10/mo. But then I learned a little more about fitness and how to achieve my goals and I've switched to a different gym that has adequate free weights. I never ate the pizza or bagels. Kinda wish I'd taken advantage of the Tootsie Rolls a little more though.
Edited to add: I did set off the Lunk Alarm once by dropping my cell phone while running on the treadmill. I find the Lunk Alarm much more annoying and distracting to my workout than any dropping of weights.0 -

Please keep your deragotory language to yourself. What the hell is lunk supposed to mean anyway?0 -
We have 3 in my area, one on the west shore, that's a bit 'uppity " i' ve never had a problem. However, you can't ban 'judgemental people" I belonged to another gym and the people who played sports, we're jerks if you weren't as good as them0

Love the PF I go to, true no need for Pizza and bagels but here's a newsflash... I DON"T EAT ANY OF IT...
Seriously, they have everything I need, very few idiots and a surprisingly great staff all for $10 per month...0 -
**also in this litigious society, I don't blame them for removing dead lifting.0

when I signed up at the gym I go to I'm pretty sure I signed some sort of waiver....not sure though, lots of fine print in the paperwork.0 -

That's never stopped people before! This gym, while a chain, is locally owned. I'm sure it also cuts down on insurance. I'm sure that there are a lot of people who quit the gym because of it, but, most places that have a pf also has a gold's gym.0 -
I go to PF too. I never got the "critic free zone"....not like you can control what other members think/say etc.
I agree with you somewhat. I think they make it clear that it's aimed towards average Joe's who just need a cheap basic gym. I have no problems with it. Gets the job done.
Why they order pizza and bagels is beyond me. Never seen anyone at my gym eat it. We're all there to workout.0 -
All PF wants is money
Of couse all they want is money, did you think they were gonna be your best friend.0 -
My gym is PF too and I really have no issues with it. It suits mine and my husbands needs. The main reason for going there is the price, I can go for free and we have access to any PF in the US. The other gym he went to while it did offer more in the way of weights and what not it was way more expensive and every time I went I had to pay the $12 "day pass". At the time I was going maybe 4 times a month (worked out at a small fitness center where I worked) and it wasn't worth it.
The people who work the front desk rarely pull the lunk alarm and when they do everyone laughs, including the person who it was pulled on. They only do it when someone is being super obnoxious. I've never been yelled at for doing dead lifts, again I really don't think the people who work there care, and always see other people doing them.
As for the pizza and bagels, yeah the probably are trying to keep their patrons but you really aren't forced to eat the stuff. I go on "bagel day" for the coffee. I've been there on "pizza day" and never ate a slice.
To each their own when it comes to gyms. PF fits a lot of people just fine.0 -
All PF wants is money
And any other gym/business/establishment doesn't? Without money businesses don't exist so um, yeah. Your point really makes no sense.0 -
All PF wants is money
No! You mean this isn't a Not For Profit organization?

Lmao I mean they dont give a **** about anyone but themselves they can care less if you lose weight or not0
-
I just joined a PF here in SoCal - only because it's new and no one goes there yet. I get to the gym at ~5am and am literally the only person there. At my old gym (24hour; still have the membership), the place is >75% full at that time.
$10/month is well worth it to have the gym to myself
(FWIW, I do find the pizza and bagel thing hilarious, but whatever)0 -

Hey guess what? Nobody is making you join PF, so it's all good.0 -
I ve been into body building and weight training. dont know what a lunk is. no judgement zone. whats this talk? of course pf only caures about your money. pf is better than snap fitness. try dropping your mebership at snap. you have to cancel your checking account.0
