So now the mornings are dark now, I am stuck in a bit of a rut of what to do.

I love running in the mornings because it's when I have the most energy, but I have had to stop at the moment due to the mornings being so dark (5am), and start doing afternoon runs instead (4:30pm).

The only problem is I really struggle with motivation and energy after work so I feel like i just want to come home and relax, but I really want to do my run, so I keep letting myself down with running at the moment.

Do I go back to morning runs and brave running in the dark? I do live in an area where it is pretty well lit up!!

Or do I try and find the energy to do the afternoon runs??

Look if you feel unsafe then DO NOT go running alone in the dark, I would rather work up the energy and force myself togo at night. If its just becasue its dark a high vis vest will do

It's definitely harder to get out of bed when it's pitch black, but I also much prefer running in the mornings. I've just been running in the dark. It means I have to run along the streets instead of a trail run, but the bonus is it gave me an excuse to go shopping for some new running gear (hi vis).
I can never find the motivation to run in the afternoons even at the weekend, there's always something else or someone else demanding my attention then. Early mornings are my 'me time'. :)
