but almost halfway there. Saw my doctor last night and she took me off my high blood pressure medication. I saw her about a month ago and she cut my dose in half cause I was getting light headed when I stood up. She brought me back in for a follow up to make sure I was doing ok. My pressure was 108/70, she decided I should try to go without the meds. If I get down another 15lbs I may be able to get off the cholesterol medication also.

My goal this month is to get down to 195lbs by the end of the month, my weight has hung between 198-199lbs the last couple of weeks but I've gone down a notch on the belt so I'm thinking I may be gaining muscle... at least I hope so!

I've been on the HBP meds for so long I was kinda excited that I'm off them so I thought I'd share.

That's a wonderful achievement! Keep going you are halfway there and keep thinking of how wonderful it is being off those meds. You will reach your goals if you keep your mind on them... Great job!!!

That's awesome! What a great step in your journey :D

For what it's worth, my mother had some pretty awful cholesterol levels a few years ago and turned it around with kinda crazy speed by taking red yeast rice pills and adding two tablespoons of milled flaxseed to her morning oatmeal. Obviously everyone's different, but the change in her cholesterol was so drastic that her doctor wrote that down as a suggestion for other patients. It might be something to try. At the very least, flaxseed is an easy, healthy thing to add to food. It's part of my breakfast oatmeal now too.

Edit: I figured I should add that she was also in the process of losing weight and eating healthier overall, but her initial poor cholesterol testing came near the end of the weight loss process. She probably only had about five more pounds to lose at that point.

Thanks everyone, when I started this my Doc had just put me on cholesterol meds and that was the final straw. I expected to get off the the cholesterol meds, I didn't think I was ever going to be off the the hbp medication.

I tried doing omega 3, I was taking 4k mg of lavaza and it didn't help. Now I take 1k mg of lavaza and another I can't think of the name of it right now. My levels were in a normal range last time it was checked, it has to get much lower before she'll consider taking me off it. I'm not terribly overweight, just enough that I'm not happy with it. My wieght as a teenager was around 170lb, right now I'd be happy at 180. When I get there, I'll decide if I'm going to work towards 170.

I'm actually looking forward to my next visit to the doctor. I've had high BP and triglycerides and take Lisinopril HCTZ along with Lovaza (fish oil because my liver doesn't like the cholesterol drugs). Can't wait to see the results of my blood work.
