?? about cooking oatmeal with muesli

I do a big batch of slow-cooker steel-cut oatmeal (using 8 cups of water and 2 cups of oats for an 8 servings batch), and I really really like it. I have it for breakfast most every day. I separate it out into 8 individual containers, so mornings there is no thinking involved. However on the days when I know I'm not going to get lunch, I'd like a bit heavier breakfast. Instead of just doubling down on the oatmeal - which while very filling and long lasting is a tad boring, I thought I try adding muesli to the oatmeal. I use Bob's Red Mill oats, so picked up a bag today of the muesli of the same brand.

I usually need to add 1/3C milk or water to my serving of oatmeal when microwaving in the morning to get it the consistency I like.

If I'm going to add museli, do I add it when cooking the oats in the slow cooker, or when microwaving the individual bowls in the mornings? If in the slow-cooker, how much extra water will be needed? I think the muesli would be too mushy if cooked in the slow cooker for the full 3-1/2 hours I usually do the oats. Should it be added closer to the the end? Or just stick with cooking the oats like usual and adding the muesli in the mornings when microwaving with more than usual milk or water?

Hi. I cook Bob's 5 grain rolled cereal for my mother most mornings instead of their oats. It is very similar to their oats only with more texture and a better taste, I think. The funny thing is, their muesli, which I used to eat all the time is basically their 5 grain rolled cereal with the addition of some nuts and raisins. I would eat muesli uncooked with a little yogurt.

I like a firmer texture. I would microwave the oatmeal with the milk and add the muesli, uncooked, after. Good luck and enjoy breakfast!
