Outdoor trails in ottawa

I'm going to visit family in Ottawa in a few months and I would love to go hiking. Are there any trails that are nice to walk on in the winter. There will be two 4 yr olds and a 1 yr old so if a stroller can make it great if not I could carry her or use a sleigh. I am also wondering if there are any trails that lead to a cave or cool scenic stuff. Trying to stay active and want to see something different.

Thanks

You'll want to check out the parks in Gatineau, just over the border in Quebec. I've never been but a few friends have gone and done the Wolf Trail - 8.3km loop.

I'm from Ottawa and lucky for you there are a lot of great trails here :-). Gatineau Park is great, but a lot of the trails are set tracks for cross country skiing and people get a little pissy about hikers wrecking the tracks, so you'll want to check which ones are recommended for hiking and which for cross country skiing. A lot of the National Capital Commission paved paths are well used and trampled down enough that you could easily pull a sleigh. Snowshoeing is amazing fun and great exercise too, and we have a few pairs that you maybe could borrow while you're here? Feel free to add me (or I'll add you) and we can chat about it a bit more when its closer to your arrival date. :-)
