My latest NSV has been unexpected. I am actually enjoying food for the first time in my adult life. The first time someone called me fat was in middle school. it was my swim coach. I promptly dropped to a size 0-1 and since I am almost 5'10" that was thin. However, for the first time, I received overwhelming positive responses about my body. Weird. And, I have been struggling with weight ever since but I never really let myself get truly fat until after I had a kid. Through all of this, I always felt guilty about eating anything. Now, I am actually enjoying food. If I want a piece of veggie pizza, and it fits in my calories for the day, I eat it and I love it! Wow!!! I even had half-n-half in my coffee for the first time. Yum!

  • That's fantastic!!! It's so much better to have a healthy mental approach to food. :) It's not the enemy. Congratulations!

Me too!! The more I'm learning, the more I view food as a tool and a partner in my weight loss, not an enemy and something to be scared of. I love that!!

Good story, sounds healing :) Congratulations.
  • FABULOUS NSV!!! That is wonderful. I think a healthy relationship with food is probably one of the hardest things to achieve; we're raised in a culture of such disordered eating. The psychological fight is so much harder than the physical one!

I truly believe that particular NSV is the key to long lasting success. When you don't feel deprived or like your missing out you are much lessly likely to binge. Way to go.

What a great NSV. I think having a healthy relationship with food includes being able to relax and enjoy it. I'm glad to hear that you are able to do that now. Good for you!
