Something like a day to remember experience, hot air balloon trip, or lunch on the Orient Express British pullman or something like this - http://www.manoir.com/web/olem/le_manoir_packages.jsp#decouverte
I went on the Orient Express to Venice for my 40th and it was AMAZING, spent my Birthday on board drinking champagne all day and eating fabulous food, travelling through France and woke in the morning overlooking Lake Lucerne. I will never forget it.
Did the hot air balloon ride at the Valley of the Kings in Egypt, over the cliffs at Dayr el-Bahari to The Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and along the Nile, it was awesome and I am usually terrified of heights, but it was fine.
I recommend both things as great for a 50th Birthday, although not sure what I will do for mine!0
