Headaches

About 2 years ago I took at yoga class at school and anytime we would do work on the floor (laying down) I would get these terrible migraine-type headaches when I would sit up. They would happen when I would try to sit up (the correct way, rolling to the side and all that) and would only last a minute or two, but they would hurt so bad I couldn't open my eyes and would sometimes get really sick from it and be out of commission for the rest of the day. Does anyone know why this happens? It hasn't stopped, even now. The doctor said it's not a tumor so please don't predict my early death LOL. :)

I have trouble with headaches also. I know this feeling that you are talking about it doesn't happen to me often but does happen every once in a while. My doctor put me on muscle relaxers because I get tension in my neck that makes me have headaches. I think it has a lot to do with the extra weight that I'm carrying around.

I would get these terrible headaches in the morning, upon awakening; so bad they made me nauseous and dizzy. Started at the base of my neck and worked their way to pounding intensity. Sometimes I thought they were caffeine headaches but sometimes there seemed to be no reason. What worked was reducing my sodium way down, under 1000mg a day. I also weaned myself from caffeinated coffee. But I think the sodium has done it. No more headaches at all now. Almost 6 months on low sodium now and headache free!

How much caffeine are you drinking?

My daughter had terrible migraines and we found it was due to caffeine intake and barometric pressure changes in the weather. Hence, we stopped her caffeine intake and moved cross crountry and she is now pain and medication free.

I definitely drink some caffeine, but I wouldn't say it's a lot. I drink a large coffee 2-3x a week and then mostly water with a packet of some sort in it throughout the day. I drink a lot of tea at one time, but again not everyday. Only a couple times a week. However, they seemed to start about the same time I cut sugars for artificial sweetners, but my doctor (he was a whack-o. That discussion is best left for another forum) said that wasn't the reason for the headaches. I asked what he thought it was then and he said, "well, I don't know but I doubt it's the sweetner" so I didn't cut out sweetners and it still happens. I actually JUST thought about then when I was reading the responses. Perhaps, cut the sweetners and see what happens?

You may have an allergy to the artificial sweeteners......My hubby gets migranes from them. Try cutting them out and see what happens.

The only reason I don't think it's not from them (or at least not an allergy) is because the headaches only happen when I lay down flat (generally to exercise is the only time I'm FLAT) for more than about 10 seconds.

Find a neurologist..not a normal doctor. And one that specilizes in headaches/migraines (note: migraines and headaches are not the same thing).

My daughter saw a great one in Cincinnati...but he even still said it wasnt the barometric pressure changes....well...we moved anyway..and she has had ONE since we left Cincinnati and is off all medication....

    Doctors don't always know everything.
