How on earth

Do you eat on days you don't work out? I know my body needs rests sometimes, but I just dread trying to stay under my calories when I don't have exercise calories to fall back on. I am eating fairly healthy today but yet I cannot squeeze in any snacks because my breakfast lunch and dinner alone take them all up.

Also, is there a way to go in manually and change your calorie goal? I go in and update every 10 pounds lost so I can lessen my calories every so often. I am not quite at my next 10 pound loss but I decided to change my work out goals from 4 X a week for 20 minutes to 5X a week for 60 minutes (which is what I am doing) and it knocked me down from 1340 calories to 1290. I just don't know if I am ready to go that low yet and I don't know how to change it back (changing my exercise goals back to what they weren't didn't help).

Right now it is at 1290, just changed from 1340 which seemed much more manageable.

On a non- exercise day you can still do something. Try a nice long walk. Although it won't get you sweating, it does give you a few more calories to play with
  • To change your calorie goal go to goals from your home page then click the change goals button at the bottom, then choose custom.

Yeah that might work well in nice weather, but not in Michigan winters so much

I don't know if I can answer your questions specifically, but I can make a couple recommendations to make it easier for you to stay under your calories (maybe):
*Don't drink your calories (unless you're drinking milk)
*Eat protein with every meal and snack -- protein helps you feel full longer. I've even started mixing protein powder with my yogurt to bump the protein. I did it last night because I worked 2 jobs and one is a desk job and the other is a driving job so I knew I wouldn't be able to eat anything from 5pm-9pm. Ate 4oz yogurt with half a scoop of protein powder and that stuff kept me satisfied for 4-5 hours!
*Bump your fiber intake to 25g/day -- helps you feel full longer
*Drink plenty of water to keep that fiber movin' -- more than 8 cups -- I try to make it to at least 12
*Add in lots of veggies (and I don't mean extra lettuce and cucumbers and celery... :grumble: Those are low calorie, but they're also pretty low nutrition). We're talking broccoli, green beans, brussel sprouts, etc.

So, okay, those are my suggestions. Several years ago I dieted (the *wrong* way) and I was starving all the time on 1400 calories and you see how that turned out (I lost 40 pounds then gained 70 :noway: ). Now I hover around 1200 and I can honestly say I'm pretty much never hungry between meals. Part of that is because my stomach is used to the smaller portions now, but the other part is figuring out how to control your body chemistry with the foods you eat so that you feel more satisfied.
Last night I had to add an extra spoonful of peanut butter just to bump myself over 1200 for the day (which I did gladly  ).

    Hope it helps.
