Jillian Michaels- worth it?

Currently I run 3 times a week in the am and do crossfit 2-3 times a week. It's starting to get cold and I hate running on the treadmil so i was thinking of cutting the running ( I still have to run 2 times a week in the afternoon with my unit- active duty AF) and throwing in a jillian michaels dvd in the am until it gets warm again. I have 30DS, 6week 6 pack abs and ripped in 30. I used 30DS after i had my son, but just got through level 1 and stopped. I am still 35 lbs overweight so do you think this would be beneficial to me or should I keep running? And if so which should I start with. Thanks in advance!

I'm on day 15 of 30DS and loving the results so far! Half way through level 2 and it's getting slightly easier . . . still leaves me breathless tho!0

Hi,
I am also on Day 15, Level 2 of 30DS. I'm feeling the results.
I don't run, but I want to. Waiting to finish 30DS to add more activities.
Very beneficial to do different activities, I think.0 -
Thanks for your comments! Anyone else?0

I have a decent level of fitness, as I imagine you do by the training you're running & doing cross fit.
I can do 2x30DS's back to back and barely break a sweat so they might not be challenging enough for you.0 -
I can see where manda1978 is coming from. You're active and your activity difficulties are pretty high. It just depends on how you feel after a Jillian workout compared to a typical run. If you aren't as worn out, then I would suggest trying to find a higher impact activity. Replacing something with an easier option will only hinder your progress.
But if any of these videos challenge you, do them! If you don't like running on a treadmill, you're going to hate dragging yourself to the gym everyday. Even if you don't so much like the videos, you won't need the gumption to leave the house.
Does any of that make sense? I hope so!0 -
I think you might be right. That was what I was thinking, but couldn't put it into words what i was trying to ask. I just ordered the videos last week so I guess when they come in, I'll try them how and see how challenging they are then if they aren't challenging enough than maybe I'll try to get insanity or something more intense. Thanks!!0

I have been doing 30DS and then hopping on my TM for 20-30 minutes. I burn a good amount that way. I still find 30DS challenging.0

Have you looked at Julluan Michaels Body Revolution? You can make it harder by adding plyo of making weights heavier.0

Cool, glad you got what I was trying to say
My usual training is 1 x 5km, 2 x group fitness (like bootcamp), and then a double session of boxing and what we call 'ultimate' fitness. Will be adding in another group fitness soon. It sounds like we're on the same page fitness wise.
Training & running in winter was tough, but I'm in Australia (Queensland) and it doesn't get that cold here (no now or anything). I also hate treadmill running.
Could you get a gym membership for a few months?0 -
I live on an Air Force base and we have a gym here that we can use for free. They have other classes too, but crossfit works with my schedule and having time to be with the family. the other classes are all during the day when I'm at work. The snow should start here soon (i'm currently stationed in Northern Japan) and will last until May or so and I'm a Floridian so it will be hard enough for me to step outside let alone run in it. LOL!
Ya I might have to look into the Body Revolution. Right now it seems pretty expensive.0 -
The 30ds is totally worth it. I will be buying her other dvds when I get paid as the results are amazing.0

If it says "Jillian Michaels," no, it's not worth it, unless it's free, and then it's probably not worth your time. With free access to a military gym, a linear progression barbell strength program is fundamental to whatever goal you may have. Check out Julia Ladewski.0

Jillian Michaels is great. I had decent cardiovascular fitness before starting her and she still killed me/ If you use decent (2kg+ weights), do all the hard versions of exercises and go twice and fast on the cardio (where possible), she is intense. I love the Shred and have just tried NMTZ for the first time- ouch.0

Jillian Michaels DVD's are always worth it. I did the 30DS and noticed some results with inches being lost and I have also done Body Revolution and i loved that one. It is totally worth the money because even when you are finished it you can always go back to do the cardio or even any other workouts. I lost weight and toned up with that one. Another good one of hers is Banish Fat Boost Metabolism, that one left me breathless every single time:)0

You can always sell Body Revolution on eBay when you're finished- if you don't want to use it again.0

How do you track your exercise for 30DS? I was looking through the list of exercise activities and wondered if circuit training is closest?
Thanks for the help!0 -

Yep I used t put it under circuit training. I put bootcamp under that too. I haev a HRM so I just adjust the time till I get the right calories0 -
I finished 30 day shred a few weeks ago and I'm now doing Ripped in 30. I love both and have had great results. I also run 5 times a week and find it easy to do both. Good luck!0

Hope these help...i found them on the Jillian Michaels site.
the formula for calculating calories burned for 1 20 minute 30ds workout is (3.267*your wt)/3
if you used banish fat boost metabolism and do the whole thing the formula is (514* your wt)/1540 -
I appreciate everyone's feedback!0
