So Confused Now

Well I have just been to a dietician and I'm about to starve.

My stats as I worked them out to be.
175cm
95kg
BMR 1687
TDEE sed 2100
TDEE lightly active 2300
BMI 31
I was eating 1700cals, I was thinking that wasn't enough.

New stats
177.8cm
95kg
BMR 1548
TDEE 1900
BMI 30.1
Now have to eat 1300, exercise already included in that

I know I am going to be one cranky b*tch, just as well hubby works away!! LOL.

I am so confused everything I read here says you shouldn't eat below your BMR and yet when I asked her she said it didn't matter.

It IS confusing. You could always try 1300-1400 on days you don't work out and then 1500-1600 on days you do. I like the sound of that! lolol.

My BMR is 1960 and I eat 1400. I never feel hungry though and most days even eat below that. My doctor said it didn't matter either. Maybe you can look at what you're eating and eat more of lower cal foods so you feel full?

You said you were eating 1,700 calories: were you losing weight at that level?

I myself am NOT a fan of eating below BMR. I was told the same thing a couple years ago (1,200 calorie diet) and it lasted less than a week (I too get super irritable when I haven't eaten much). My thought: if it's not sustainable long-term (i.e. the rest of my life), what is the point in doing it now just to give up and gain it back later?

So I eat much higher than recommended: I aim for 1,700-1,800 on a typical day. Up to 2,100 on a super-intense workout day. I try to work out 6 days a week (minimum 45 minutes). Unfortunately, I get some hog-wild eating days once in a while (2,500-2,900 calories) but that's not often. And although it's not a "recommended" diet, it's working, AND it's sustainable for the long haul... And I'm hoping that over time, as I learn more about eating and how to make the calories count, I can back down on the calories as I get closer to my weight...

I would go with a sensible plan that you can live with for the long haul, it may take some experimenting to find it though... Best of luck!

I lost 22 kg in 7 months eating at 1500 1400 and down as low as 1300 cals again 1300 was oked by a dietician. Then I stalled out and couldn't lose anymore. I had a death in the family and put my weighloss on the back burner. I gained 10 kilo back over a year.

I started back about 8 or 9 weeks ago at 1600 cals plus eating back exercise cals I lost 2 kg then stalled, increased cals to 1700 lost 1 kg over 2 days and have been going up and down on the same few hundred grams for weeks.

Sorry, I just had to Google a conversion calculator to translate all the kilograms for me (I'm AWFUL at math, LOL)... so 22 kg is AWESOME!!! If you did it once, you can do it again, I know....

If you want more friends, add me! I'd love to hear how it works out...I'm very afraid of getting stuck like that myself eventually and will have to do something drastic like 1,200 calories, but I'm just taking it as it comes for now...

I like the other suggestion above too about choosing the right calories to fill you up... I'm still trying to learn that myself! Maybe if I could figure that piece out, then low-calorie wouldn't be so bad! It's not easy though... I feel like I'm surrounded by empty calories day-in, day-out!
