Doesn;t matter, as long as you count it.

It will count regardless of the time you eat.

if i had calories left for yesterday i would put it on there..
if not i would put it on todays..since 3am would be today..

I would put it in "yesterday"

    today starts with breakfast.

if your yesterday cals were already maxed out.... DONT EAT IT!

If I haven't been to bed when I eat it goes on that day for me. If I have been to bed and get up to eat (which I don't) it would go on a new day. That is what I would do, but why eat at 3am unless you are a night worker. Just go to bed and forget the cookies.

I work nights (7p-7a) so I actually changed my diary from breakfast/lunch/etc to 4-hour blocks starting at midnight (so, MN-04, 04-08, etc). If 3a is a common time for you to eat, perhaps changing your meal classification is a good idea.

our body changes days at exactly 2:17 am. So these would count towards today.

I count them for 'today', simply because I hate adding to a food log once I have already clicked the "Complete Entry" button.

but those things drove me crazy in the beginning, too.

    ^^^ Agree
  • If it was before you went to sleep I would count as yesterday.

I always count it as sleep to sleep.

This way I can get a cheeky half hour cycle ride in before bed to make up for over-eating in the day :).

I work nights too and get my food around midnight. To me, after midnight is the next day so this food goes there.
Better actually as the 1st night can go onto next days counting and not added to the day waiting to go to work which would make it quite high!

But then what happens when you have days off? seems abit odd to do it that way. (i work nights and try to get my supper in after midnight so i can count it there as i'll be in bed most of that day so wont be eating much anyway)

Whether it goes in yesterday or today isn't the point as much as WHY it happened in the first place and how can you change this type of behavior. If you have the munchies, try an apple, or a greek yogurt. Put your focus and energy into more productive things on how to change the behavior.

Normally, I wold say 3 AM cookies count for today, but that's mostly just so I can keep each days' timeframe looking the same with a midnight-to-midnight setup rather than for any particular health beneifit. I have, however, occasionally left the timeline a little loose for things like exercise that starts one day and ends on the next and any post workout snack, but that rarely pushes more than 30 minutes beyond midnight.

Sadly I find it hard to break a waking pattern; so if I go to bed late, still tend to get up at the same time.

Presuming you meant days off from work.
Days off from eating much - if I could do that, I wouldn't be here :P.

In the end, hours are arbitrary way of measuring a day - for me it makes more 'sense' to follow my body's cycle.

Only problem is I use a motoactv to measure calories burnt, which means a bit of messing about as that gives me a daily figure.

Ditto. Without the cheeky cycle rides.
