Not a success story, but a success story in the making. Today I am halfway to my goal weight. I started on MFP back in August, 11.5 kilos (25 pounds) ago. MFP and the community have been a great help in this journey. The amazing success stories I’ve seen here are a constant reminder that it can be cone. I still have a long way to go, but I feel confident that I will reach my goals and keep this new lifestyle permanently. I have changed a lot in my life and I’m not going back.
I used to wake up at seven feeling tired, sore and grumpy. I now wake up at five, feeling full of energy and looking forward to my 30min workout.
I used to have twinkies and chips for breakfast. Now I have fresh fruit, whole bread, veggies and eggs or fish.
My main meals used to be: skip the salad, double the main course, triple dessert. Now it’s salad, main course, and dessert if I feel like it.
A bottle of cooking oil used to last about a week in my kitchen. Now it can last more than a month.
I deluded myself into thinking I knew how to eat healthy. Now I am really learning about it.
I didn’t want to take my children swimming because I didn’t want to be seen shirtless, I felt too embarrassed of my gut and my manboobs. I can now take them to the pool and actually enjoy it.
I sometimes needed to leave the button of my pants undone so they would fit. Now I need to punch an extra hole in my belt.
I used to think it was ok to be a couch potato, or being overweight, or being just into the obese category, or not being morbidly obese. I am now convinced I deserve much better, and I’m determined to get it.
(I'm still too shy to post before/after pics, but maybe in another 11 kilos)
