218lbs, 5'10" , 21yrs old. I exercise the most 5 times a week for 20 minutes. I'm a SAHM and my pedometer says I take less that 5k steps a day. I usually include my weights when I work out, which are 10lbs each.

BMR- 1828
TDEE- 2833

That's what I was given as my results when I searched them. If I want to loose 2lbs the most a week would I set my calories to 1800? and would I not eat back exercise? I have been on MFP for a couple months and it has always had me at less than 1500. I am really trying to figure out what is healthy for me in my journey to be healthier. I am trying to research everything and it is all still confusing. I'm sick of losing some, not losing some. I need to find out where it is I need to be for my body to be healthy.

    Hello

Well, your numbers look about right.

As a general rule of thumb a deficit of 500cal will result in about a pound of weight loss a week. Of course that is just an estimate and will have a lot variation.

I don't worry too much about eating or not eating back my exercise calories. In my case they amount to about 200 cals a day . Unless exercise is a mayor component of your energy expenditure, I see no reason to get too worked up about them. I usually try to stay around what mfp recommends, but not below what it says Ii should eat before exercise.

Calories from exercise are very hard to guess. What I did is I bought an exercise heart rate monitor, and with that i can make a much better estimate of my exercise calories. When I input my exercise in MFP i adjust it so it will be closer to what I can calculate from my heart rate.

    Hope this helps!

when i was eating below my BMR I was hardly losing when I started to eat above and at 20% less than my TDEE I have lost 7 lbs since the beginning of Oct which is when I changed to eating above my BMR. I was 235 lbs I am currently 198 so I have been in your ball park and if you stick with it and drink LOTS and LOTS of water i don't think you can go wrong :) best of luck hun!
  • Thanks, I will see how 1800 works for me.
