Thinking of getting Personal Trainers Certification

Lately I've noticed a huge gap in my general fitness knowledge. I've realized I don't know how to properly weight train and keep myself in shape. I go to classes for weight lifting, but they don't teach me much in terms of long term care, and then I run/cycle. I read the articles, I eat healthy (ish, some days I lapse), and I have a very general/broad understanding, I just want to have a full understanding.
So I've been thinking of getting a personal training certification mostly for personal use to keep myself in shape and healthy. I've been looking online and I see some online courses from certified organizations, or my local CC (I will be having an 8-4 job in January so I can't attend half these classes).
My question is, does anyone have any suggestions? Anyone have their certification and have any advice about it?
