Yes! I always annoy my friends and coworkers...even when I'm not "dieting."

stare...just stare at them...force their gaze away like the lowly curr they are, and then once they turn away, draw your broaddsword* and cut off their head and then stand on their prostrate form and howl to the gods of battle, letting the entire office who has laid claim to this kill. Drag the body into your cubicle and then enjoy a high protein, high fat meal for your reward.
After doing this once, none of my coworkers dare ask me about "why I'm just eating rice cakes".
*if your sword is currently at the smith's being repaired from the trials of battle, then pull any weapon your office might have nearby off the wall and do the deed. If you office is lacking in wall mounted weaponry, find a new line of work, something more befitting a warrior.

I think my opnions differ from all of these posts in that I don't understand why most of responders think that a justification is needed. As soon as you give a person a response, you are giving the person ammunition. Don't bother. Any time someone asks me why I'm eating something, I just look at them like I'm confused. "What?, you're asking me why I'm eating??? then I quietly say under my breath as I'm walking away...."weird"......believe me they won't be asking for long....0

When I was at my former job last year, I started this journey, and at first, my coworkers were supportive, or so it seemed. As the weight started to shed off of me, I noticed they'd get snide with their comments and snippy with me. They WERE jealous and I'd hear "Well, it's harder for a 50-some year old to lose the weight because of metabolism." So I pulled up a success story off of here of a woman in her 60's who lost nearly 50 lbs doing MFP. It's always excuses. I say to simply ignore them and if they make a snide comment, I'd basically say "What is it to you what I eat or don't eat? I appreciate the offer but I do not want it and thank you for respecting my decision." The end.
People are a-holes. This is why I love my dogs more!!0 -
This happens to me ALL THE TIME! My work colleagues I think are just trying to be helpful but they come in eating crisps and chocolate in fact one person who picks at me about what I eat all the time I have never even seen them eat a piece of fruit and they are pregnant! I have learned to ignore it all now that is the best way to deal with it!0

I had a boss who told me I was too skinny and looked sick and needed to eat more.
I didn't eat more, but apparently she was tracking (she doesn't know I already track - should have saved her time and told her), and she kept informing me to stop eating so much - no matter what I put in my mouth.
I said "But I am skinny and looking sickly" and she just kind of nodded like - point taken.
Next day "Stop eating so much" as I ate an APPLE.
Some people just are nosy and have nothing better to do. Truth is she is older and when she was young she was overweight but lost weight through the diet of stress, smoking and sickness. Can't have anyone else try a different way, lol.0 -
We have a "Sweet Fairy" in our office. A mysterious person (we know who it is but she denies it everytime) who bring in a huge amount of sweets on a regular basis. We are talking about £30+ (thats about $40-50 for those of you across the pond.)
Annoyingly she puts it at the end of her pod so its right in my eye line. She knows that several of us are trying to diet but she still denies. Thankfully she has stopped bringing in new stuff EVERY DAY, and it did drop to once per week (there is more than a weeks worth of sweets there though.) She brought some in today grrrrrrrr
She doesn't eat any of it herself though. (Although she is morbidly obese !!!)0 -

After they finish speaking, look at them vacantly and ask, "I'm sorry, did you say something?" If they start to repeat themselves, look away again and back to what you were doing. When they finish speaking, look at them and ask, "I'm sorry, did you say something?"
They will most likely get fed up and walk away. And leave you alone in the future.0 -

So far you've lost weight. Everyone has to cater their diets to their own bodies. As long as you stay within your calories counts it shouldn't matter. Popcorn every once in a while is not bad for you, but try not to make it an everyday habit. Switch up your snacks. Also popcorn as well as many other things have dehydrated oils. Research dehydrated oils. You will learn to read the ingredients from now on. Don't listen to what other people say if it's working for you. They're easy to critique when they're not the one dieting. My boyfriend does the same to me, yet my body is changing and I've already lost ten lbs total since April. Keep up the good work.0

My co-workers make suggestions too, but they look like the before Jillian Michael!!!! People are going to always feel the need to tell you what to do or how to do it, but I just listen and do what is best for me. For example, they have been trying to get me to eat some candy that a representative brought for our dealership. I went out and brought me some Crystal Light Hard Candy #SugarFree ( 4 pieces 26 calories) and said this is the only candy I can eat. They stop asking me!!!0

People think in order to lose weight you have to be on a diet. We are now (finally) in an era that we know that is not what you do. Fad diets and whatnot only temporarily lose weight and when you go back to eating normal it will just come back on.
Calorie deficit will help you lose weight no matter if you eat popcorn, which btw is not bad for you, or not.
It's hard to ignore ignorant people but that's all you really can do. Anything you say will just fall on deaf ears anyway! They think they know everything!
The only people that know I am eating healthier/losing weight is my husband and his grandmother and people on here. It seems to be easier that way!

There's this chick in my office who will coo at what I'm eating: "ooohhhh look at you eating healthy today!". Annoying!!
I hate this!!! I am constantly being told that, or your eating rabbit food....sorry I am not eating my 5th fast food joint lunch this week like you :grumble:0 -
I have a friend who is really the only one I can speak to ad nauseam about my weight loss/getting fit. He is interested in health/fitness and eating as 'clean' and whole as possible (and he's also very anti medicine and gives me a hard time about needing blood pressure pills, but I digress). But I get bit in the butt by speaking to him, as he constantly criticizes my food choices. For instance, I was on the phone with him when I was in Starbux (he's a long distance friend). I was getting an unsweetened iced coffee w/ soy milk (which has less sugar than non fat milk, which is why I choose it). And he criticized me for having a Starbux. I had enough. I tried to once again explain to him that I am not on a diet, this is how I want to be eating/exercising for the rest of my life and I'm not going to stop having coffee/soy milk for the rest of my life. And the "it's all about moderation" talk. I think I FINALLY got it into his head. He told me later that he assumed I was getting some sugary, frozen drink there which is why he said something...
(And let me tell ya, though he does try and eat healthy, he also goes and gets milk shakes from Jack in the Box and bear claws from the bakery!)0 -
So, I just made myself some popcorn for a snack at work. A coworker of mine chimes in when she smells it and yells that it smells good and wants to know why I am eating it. I tell her it is low calorie and full of fiber. She replies that it is full of carbs and if I was REALLY on a diet or trying to get in shape that I wouldn't be eating it. What do you do when people say stuff like this to you? I feel that I should have never told anyone what I was doing. But it is the only way to shut down the request to go to lunch, have a slice of b-day cake, etc. How do you get people like this off or your back? I hate the critiques, judgements, and unsolicited advice. btw...most of the people giving it don't exactly look like Jillian Michaels. I want to say this, but I don't want to be tooo rude.
LOL! I would look at the offender and say something to the effect of "so when did you graduate?" when they look confused and say "what? what are you talking about?" you sweetly look at them and say " Since you feel qualified to give me nutritional counseling, I figured you must be about to graduate with a degree in nutrition..."0 -
Well, in regards to the popcorn and carbs...who cares. I haven't paid attention to my carbs at all and still managed to lose weight. Carbs are not evil.
As far as everything else just ignore the comments. Have the cake if you can fit it into your calorie goals. If you let what other people say/think bother you, you will fail.0 -

I don't think all co-workers try to sabotage your diet, I think it's just normal people want to share with us things they love. If someone brings in something and I want it, then I will rearrange my diary that day to fit it in or I'll save it for the next day. But if I don't want it then I would throw it away when no one is looking lol. I really think most of them just mean well0

I just tell them my doctor told me I can eat anything I want, just in moderation. I appreciate it when people ask me if I would like a treat instead of just assuming that I don't want any. My department at work won't even tell me if they bring in treats because they assume I won't eat them. I would rather they ask me and I can politely say "no thanks". There are some days that I allow myself the treat depending on what it is, than I just adjust the rest of my day accordingly.0

My office noticed from seeing my eating changes. I hate the "diet police!"
My manager invited us all out to a bar after work and the whole time I had to hear, "Yeah, I don't eat the bread with my burger" "Oh gosh, fries are just fattening" "I'm on this new *insert fad diet here* so I won't be doing that, I need to get in a size 5"...
so as I sat with my angus burger and fries that fit into my plan, thanks to the exercise I'd done, and blurted, "Well, I eat the bread and the fries and I've lost 51 pounds since June (i added my pregnancy weight lost to really stick my chest out lol)," all I got was silence.
But, generally...I don't discuss what I eat, what I do or how I do it because, "I got this!"
One person once told me, "I saw you and your husband walking around the building on break. If you're exercising, you're going to have to move faster than that." Her burn at 140 and mine at damn near 300 is totally different...but, she would've never understood. smh.,0 -
I guess it sucks that your co-worker can't eat carbs like you can. I tell people to try and take it away from me when they say "You can't eat that". After the first smackdown, they learn quick to shut up about the chocolate and pasta.
Oh I sooo cannot give up my chocolate. If you see my diary it is so obvious. But, I make a way to fit it in and it's not excessive. And, I try to eat more dark chocolate. If I ever got lectured for that, they would get the death-ray stare ... :noway:0
