I want to exercise more but here is my problem. I work very long hours at work (at a desk) 12 hours and a hour to and from work 3 days a week. I am so tired when I get home I just want to be with my family and pets. On my days off I go walking with my dog and I love it. I have very bad arthritis in my Hips, knees and shoulders. I want a Exercise that will not be to hard on my joints but make my heart work so I can lose more.

"making your heart work" will just make your heart more healthy, doing more cardio doesn't cause you to drop body fat faster. It's been said however that building muscle through resistance training can raise your resting metabolic rate.
I too sit in a desk for long hours, and I can tell you that all that desk sitting is probably at least one of the sources of your pain. You should really look into foam rolling to help alleviate that tension, it has done wonders for me.
Also if you start weight lifting it will make your muscles stronger so that sitting in a chair for so long isn't much a hard task for your weak body.
Since you sound like a fitness newbie, I'll go ahead and tell you that women can't get huge in bulking through lifting weights. The women with these hulk like bodies that you've seen do drugs to obtain that body. The woman with fit type body like Jillane Micheals lift weights.0 -
Sounds like you need a new job to me.
Outside of doing that, you really should just focus more on being in a deficit. Working out is basically a bonus that lets you eat more. Dont be in such a rush...the saying going "you diden't gain all that weight overnight, so dont expect to lose it overnight". Slow and steady, stay in a deficit and you will lose weight. If you can put time in to lift weights and maybe do a bit cardio, it will be that much easier...but deficit is all that matters for pure weight loss.0 -
I too work 12 hour shift, I do longer cardio (bike riding) on my 4 days off a week and then walk on the treadmill for 30-45 min on days i work. Walking is a great cardio exercise that will also help after being stiff from your long drive. I mean this with all sincerity when i say that You just have to make the decision that even though you are tired and just worked and drove for 14 hours that you are still going to make yourself work out. If like me you can find 100 excuses but you just have to make yourself do it. You can and soon it will just be your routine.0
