I am looking for easy to grab and go snacks that are low in calories...yet filling. Any suggestions...

    I second the guy who said almonds. Also peanuts if you aren't allergic. Low fat cheese sticks have a lot of protein for their calorie count, but they don't really fill me like nuts do for some reason, maybe its just me.

    Home made trail mix. Almonds, cranberries and pumpkin seeds. I measure mine out in 100gram bags, and then when I want to snack I know what the calories work out to.

    Natural yoghurt, nuts and seeds in portion-controlled bags, fruit or dried fruit, veggies & houmous dip, houmous in pitta bread, raw fruit & nut bars, dark chocolate, granola bars, dry-roasted edamame beans or chick peas, boiled eggs, protein shake powder in a flask so you just need to add water & shake it up...

    boiled eggs, only 75 cals per egg and chock full of protein and makes a filling snack. And while some people still frown upon the cholesterol in egg yolk, it's the healthy kind and studies have shown that it doesn't cause increased cholesterol levels (although if you have high cholesterol already it's best to check with a doc how much egg yolk you should eat)

    Boiled eggs. Nuts. Sliced banana with almond butter. Cottage cheese. Sweet potato chips. Canned tuna. Etc.

    I like to bring bananas and apples. I bring a baggie to through the peel in til I have a trash if I will be eating in the car. Granola bars, raisen boxes and fruit cups are good too. Some stores sell little tubs of veggies with dressing that are easy but you cant just leave them in the car. Some people pre-portion veggies so they can just grab them throughout the week.

    Crab sticks are 16 calories each. Bananas, hard boiled eggs, apples, beef jerky, pumpernickel bread.
  • I want to add popcorn, it's not that filling but it has so few calories and you can just make some and take with you in a bag. Really easy and better than nothing.

    I also like eat natural bars, raisins, and nuts and seeds and all that...

    Everyone's given some awesome suggestions I never thought of like boiled egg! Genius... I love boiled eggs! Thanks people! =D

    I like HoneyCrisp apples, bananas, peanuts & almonds. I especially like Emerald's Cocoa Roast Almonds because I get the protein AND feel like I'm having some sweet, like chocolate at the same time.

    I get them at Sam's Club. You can pre-portion in ziplock bags if you want. That help me AND my sons portion; otherwise, they'll pound down the whole 38oz container with ease!!!

    agreed.. I snack on a lot of popcorn at night too... however the evil little boy scout who 'sold' me a bag never delivered. I want him dead..

    I really like the SmartFood hummus chips. It satisfy my chip cravings, is low in calories, has 4g protean, and taste great.

    Apples. Carrots/celery/crunchy veggies with Hummus. Pears. Grapes. Banana. Fruit in general. Nuts/trail mix. Protein bar. Hard boiled eggs.

    I buy a bag of Granny Smith apples each week and keep them in my car or at work. I also like keeping a jar of peanut butter in my drawer at work with a few plastic spoons. An apple and a spoon full of peanut butter does wonders!

    My apple "trick" is to eat the apple, then set a timer or otherwise wait for 20 minutes to see if I still need the peanut butter.

    Eggs are good too but nothing I've found can beat the convenience, price, and storage ability (no need to refrigerate!) of a Granny Smith apple!:drinker:

    (Oh, and I'm not a big fan of apples- but if I'm hungry I like them and that helps keep me honest! If I'm "starving!" *whimper* but I don't want to eat another Granny Smith, I'm probably not REALLY hungry!)
