I'm thinking about starting this on monday. Has anyone done this? What were your results? And is it necessary to have a rest day in between or can you increase the number of days you run?

Any feedback would be appreciated... thanks!

  • I plan on starting Monday too.
  • I started this two weeks ago and it is amazing! Make sure you follow the instructions for the first week, but after that I think you can kind of go at your own pace. I've done three workouts three days in a row, and since they're only about 25 minutes long with warm up it's easy to squeeze in. Just follow the formula they give you. A good indicator is the "talk test"- you shouldn't be able to sing along to your iPod or talk to a friend during these workouts- if you can you can increase your jogging time.

Also, if your school has a gym with an indoor track, I've found this to be the easiest method. Trust me, you'll look forward to the run.
I feel better than I have, ever.

I did a couch to Half marathon training last year. Your muscles need those rest days to recover and rebuild. Use the rest days for cross training. Things like weights or swimming or cycling, Yoga anything like that. As you get further into the training you will begin to see the need. I am training for a full marathon next month, I take every Friday off. No training of any kind. I swim and bike a couple days during the week and run 3 days. Saturdays are our long days for the training. If the long run was really long I will take Sundays off as well. Most weeks with moderate milage I will bike on Sunday.

I just finished Week 1 today, and am liking it so far. There are podcasts and iPhone apps that are amazingly helpful.

I do the rest days to recover (my knee bugs me a little), but do Wii EA Sports Active and/or Wii Biggest Loser on my non-run days.

I'm on week 4 this week. If you're not used to running then I would suggest having the rest day in between. My feet have been driving me nuts.
