Do people notice when your NOT losing?

I have been stuck on the scale for almost two months now, and people I saw then and have seen again recently, tell me how small I have gotten and how good I look. But I weigh the same. I have gotten more compliments in these past two months of no change on the scale then I did when I dropped from 240 to where I am now.

I have been doing the IPOARM approach for about a month and a half, I have had inch loss and BF% is down, so I know I am losing something, even if its not actual lbs. But could it really be reshaping my body this quickly?

I started at 270 and I am at 228 now. Could it be possible too that my skin is shrinking back down also, and that could be why I look thinner? I never thought of this.

Could these couple months of no change on the scale still mean my body is reforming? And that much that it is that noticeable? I didn't see it so much before, but now when I look at myself in the mirror, I do see a big difference in my stomach/back area and my butt (its shrinking!! YAY!!)

I am trying to find more positives to the damn scale not moving, and I am sure a lot of us out there are also doing the same. I am not obsessed with the scale, but if you have ever been a bigger person that has set that goal to get under 200, it does get a bit disappointing when the scale doesn't move. I have been trying to get under 200 for a long time (years!!), so this is the only reason the scale matters right now. But I do measure and take pictures - measure weekly and pics once a month (started in sept).

Has anyone else noticed any big changes in themselves even when the scale isn't moving? I am hoping this can help others that get discouraged about the scale. I have learned patience and don't let it really get me down, but I am still shocked in the difference in my body by it remaining where it is weight wise. I think it shows what a difference losing BF and inches really makes :)

Would love to hear your opinions to my questions and would love to hear if any of you have had a similar experience :)

Bump! No one wants to share :(
  • This is totally possible. For me, when I go months (yes, months) on a weight plateau, my body reforms. The tape measure shows some changes, and it seems like everything shifts around a bit. Then when the tape measure seems to stop now, is when the scale moves. When the scale stops and the body shifts, these are the differences most noticed because it means things start to solidify. When you are down more, then people will notice with both a bit easier. :) You are doing awesome!!!

Thanks Hun! That is very interesting, the inches have definitely been coming off, so hopefully that will be the case for me! once I am under 200 I will throw my scale away no problem lol

Not sure of your exercise routine but I hear people say things like this all the time. Even my own dad has said this recently that the scale isn't moving! The last time he was in the size pants he is now he weighed less. The difference now is he is more fit than we was then. Muscle weighs more than fat so where you may be physically slimming down the scale doesn't move much! Make sense? Also completely rando fact! But I just found out today (from a nutrionist) that it's very very common for people to plateau at the 200lb mark AND if you have lost a lot of weight you can carry up to 15lbs of extra skin. So even if you don't look "flabby" it can still be there so it's always good to know your body fat %! Just thought I would throw that in for future reference because my dad has been dealing with the scale not moving. But now that he knows he says he is going to check out BF% and make sure he is where he is supposed to be!

Not exactly a fact. 1 pound of muscle = 1 pound of fat. Muscle does, however, take up less space than fat, so that's why people look leaner when they gain muscle and lose fat. In September, I lost only 2lbs, but I lost 7 inches from all over, so I was losing something...just not on the scale.

I guess I should have made that a little more clear....your right 1 lb = 1 lb no matter what its made of but if you fill say 1 cup with fat and 1 cup with muscle the cup with muscle will weigh more. That's why you can lose inches without necessarily losing weight.
