Hi all,

I am in the middle of Week 3 of this program and loving it. I currently have been running Tues/Thurs and third run sometime on the weekend. My boyfriend is now interested in running and wants to start the program tomorrow working from the beginning. I will be running with him and wonder if this will be too much since I will be running on rest days albeit at a reduced pace/distance and intervals will be considerably shorter than what I'm currently doing. Thoughts?

I'd just start over with him and be delighted in how much easier it is to do now! Running every day is a great way to end up with an injury especially when you are just starting out.

My only worry is that my boyfriend won't stay with it and then if I start from scratch again I will feel like I've lost the progress I've made thus far. My boyfriend has had surgery on both knees and may find it too hard to get going so unsure of whether he will be doing this long term. I know for a fact however that I am determined to finish the program before New Year's as I plan on running a 10K in April.

I think you will be okay without the rest days. Unless you're super sore, the Week 1 runs won't hurt!

I'm also mid week three, but when I have the energy I will re-do W1D1 for a better workout. If you're up for it, you could even do it with him after your own run- That way he won't feel like you're kicking his butt either because you will be more winded than the norm.

I know his pace will be much slower than mine as he doesn't do much physical exercise so I'm hoping that losing my rest days for a more leisurely run will not be a hinderance. I haven't had muscle pain from the runs since the first week so I know I'm stronger now than I was when I started even if it wasn't that long ago when 45 seconds seemed deadly. LOL I will still ensure to take Sunday off for my rest days and will not be adding any other exercise in the interim until I see how far my boyfriend is willing to go with the program or how far his knees will let him go.

I love the idea of doing my run before going with him however we are going at 4:30 in the morning and any earlier I think I would die. I already feel the afternoon slump at 2 in the afternoon as it is. LOL
