Words really hit home

I am a frequent reader here, seldom poster. Yesterday, someone told a poster they were learning to eat under their calorie limit but not learning to eat the right foods. That statement made the original poster mad, but it sure stuck with me.

While it is only partly true for me, it is true to some extent. I find myself still eating sugary snacks but compensating by eating less in other areas. (This is bad for multiple reasons; the biggest is that I am pre-diabetic and do have a target carb amount for each day, 75.)

That reminder was just what I needed. I'm a lifetime dieter. I've gained and lost 100 pounds twice and was on the road back to gaining 100 again when I joined MFP. I need to learn to eat the right foods, all of the time, and quit just playing a numbers game. Ive got to give up the mini Reese cups that are readily available at my office.

So thanks, whoever said that to the person it pissed off. It helped me. :)

as with most things, moderation is key, especially with diabetes. You can still have that reese's cup, you just have to budget into your diet. I really recommend this, as soon you'll figure out what a hit to your daily totals that little things is, whereas you could have more veggies than you could probably eat in two sittings for the same calories.
