Need some assistance please. I went back to my nutritionist and they've removed dairy from my diet. I have Celiac so gluten is out. Too many nuts or beans upset my stomach (nearly everything does accually).

I'm out of a lot of options for high protein substitutes and need ideas. I just can't imagine eating chicken spinich salad for the rest of my life. I'm looking for recipes mostly.

Also, without the milk, I'm unable to figure out how to use my protein powder without wanting to throw up. Mixing with water just isnt' an option - I couldn't choke it down. I don't drink juice, caffienated drinks, or sodas.

Why not try your shakes/smoothies with Almond, Soy, Silk, Rice milks?

Im not allergic to milk but I prefer the taste of almond milk. :) it's great on cereals too, gives it a sugary taste so you don't need sugar on things like weetabix.

Iv tried a few and the make I go with is Alpro. Great stuff! Has added calcium and vitiamins too.

The protein power I use the ON 100% gold standard - double choc, it's so good you can have it with water tbh. But almond milk works really well with it, I look forward to it after a good exercise.

I don't see anything about soy or egg, both are good protein sources. Fish or other meats, chicken isn't the only lean meat.
I made these the other day, pretty good for protein.
1/2 cup oat flour(I just grind oats up in a coffee grinder)
    1 scoop protein powder
    1 whole egg
    3 tbs egg whites
    1/2 cup pumpkin puree
    1 Tbs pumpkin pie spice
1-2 Tbs stevia, splenda or sugar in the raw

just stir together, put in greased muffin tins, bake 25 mins at 350*F

Have you asked these same questions to your nutritionist? Surely she would have input.

    Hi, CNelson...

I use a really tasty soy protein drink that actually tastes really good mixed with water. It's called "Naturade Total Soy Meal Replacement" The vanilla AND the strawberry are really tasty...The chocolate, not so much. I've tried a pea protein drink from whole foods that was not bad..can't recall the name. Best to you!

    Lowell in Miami

By the way, protein is a lot more prevalent in food that many think...

Coconut water in place of milk for protein shakes.
Salmon and Shrimp in place of chicken.
Lots of peppers and onions for flavor.

I actually use a vanilla protein powder (Gold Standard 100% Natural Whey - amazon) and it's not too bad in water. I actually think the chocolate powders don't do as well in water as the vanilla... might be worth trying?

Rice milk can be a really good option for the protein powder

If you use water+ frozen fruit (I prefer banana) and the protein powder it helps disguise the chalky texture. I never ever make a protein shake without frozen fruit. Also, half a teaspoon of xanthum gum with thicken it up to simulate the milk texture.
