I REALLY enjoy my whole milk...

A few years ago I had a nutritionist (who was literally all bones, and no muscle) who suggested that I could lose the weight faster if I just stuck to 1 or 2 percent milk. But, I just don't enjoy it. I know that whole milk isn't great on calories, but I don't drink or use it often so...yeah.

Is Almond milk any good? Is it OK that I use whole milk, or are there some health disadvantages to it?

Thanks!!

I LOVE almond milk. I am not a supporter of cow milk in general. I don't think that human bodies were meant to digest milk from another animal, or really any milk beyond our infancy. But to each his own!

As long as it fits in your calories, I'd honestly just stick with whole milk if it's what you like. I'm a big fan of almond milk, though, if you do decide to make the switch.

As for Almond or Soy milk, be careful, sometimes they have a lot of added sugar, and that makes them just as unhealthy (or not) as cow milk.

You really have to try almond milk to decide if it is for you. I generally drink skim milk, but also use almond milk in my cereal (as a calorie saver). I HATE the taste of almond milk on its own or in my coffee.

Whole milk is okay for you, as long as you don't have cholesterol problems.

i ONLY drink whole milk. i think it is only 30 calories less then skim milk for 1 glass. i only have it a couple times a week as i try not to drink my calories. before i started mfp i was drinking way way to much as i love it. i would drink 4 glasses at night which is 600 calories.

Whole milk will not screw up your diet plan at all. Just keep your total intake within your calorie limit, and you'll be just fine.

Whole milk is real milk.. I love it. No way I would give it up.

But to agree with an above poster, just make sure it fits in your calorie allowance. Or just earn it

Exactly. Once you slowy adjust, it doesn't taste so bad! I went from 2%, to 1% , to skim. I think skim tastes better in coffee, with sugar free cocoa, or in cereal... drinking it alone makes it taste watery... but its not terrible.

Whole milk used to be OK for me, but after getting used to other types... it tastes funny.

    I LOVEE almond milk! :)

I drank whole milk for most of my life, breakfast on cereal and with every meal. I did switch to 2% and got quite used to it after a couple weeks. I am now down to 1% and find it tastes good and no longer miss the whole milk. But you have to step down gradually. Personally I will never make it to skim, seems to much like white water. I have no desire to try any of the other "milk" products. Wouldn't seem right. Milk comes from a cow. What ever you decide Good luck!

I don't drink milk as a rule, I just use a little in my coffee - but if I do, I will have whole. Or even half and half or heavy cream. My husband doesn't like it, though, so we use unsweetened almond milk most of the time.

Whole milk is not awful for you. Manage your calories and you can still have it. I use skim because I dont have a milk preference and its lower cal.

If it fits into your daily caloric and nutritional needs why not drink it if you like it. Personally I've switched to almond coconut blend I think it has the perfect combo. Its Blue Diamond Breeze Almondmilk Coconutmilk Blend. If you are concerned about carbs the unsweetened is carb friendly. I can't stand soy milks, so if you aren't strapped for cash why not pick up a container of almond, coconut or the blend and give it a try.

You can drink your whole milk, as long as it fits in your calorie goal. But have you try organic 2%, 1% or skim? I hate regular 2%, 1% and skim because they don't taste like milk. The organic ones still taste like milk. I like almond milk on its own, but not in my coffee. I don't use milk for cereal, but I would probably be ok with cereal and almond milk.

I love whole milk too, but only drink on special occasions. I've found that Horizon 1% milk has a very very creamy flavor. I'm a HUGE fan. It tastes a lot better than normal 1% or even normal 2% for that matter.

I try to eat the least processed foods I can, so I drink whole, unhomogonized milk. It is SO good, and I think it's more satisfying than lower fat milk. Enjoy it, log it, no problem.

I drank whole milk + powdered supplements as a gainer. Now, that's all I can think of it as.

2% is really good, skim tastes like cloudy water, and unsweetened vanilla almond milk is my go to.
