Make your doctor a partner in your weight loss...

I've been on a nearly two-year weight loss journey, and I have a fantastic relationship with my general practicioner. I've always struggled with my wieght, but an illness I had three years ago that needed high-dose steroid treatment was where most of my weight was piled on.
My doctor guided me through that, then introduced me to a dietician and helped me start what was a 30 lb. weight loss before I started MFP (I'm now over 60 lbs. lost total). The immune disorder is in remission and I'm off all medications.
A few weeks ago he and I were having coffee (yes, I love small town Iowa) and he asked how the weight loss was going. I said I was struggling - that I was tracking my food and exercise intake, but not losing as much as MFP was indicating I should.
Thank God I had been tracking religiously, because he asked me to make an appointment and bring my logs.
He agreed that if I was logging accurately, I should be losing weight at a better rate, so he did a full blood workup. At which point we discovered that my thyroid is not working and even with a daily multi-vitamin my iron is dangerously low.
So, a reminder. If you are logging accurately, weighing your food, and tracking your exercise, and not seeing any results, it may be time for a visit with your doctor. And if your doctor isn't supportive, find a different one.
Good luck!
