Hi there to all the runners out there, I want to start running as I enjoy exercising outdoor more than in a gym. I love walking and could walk for a good hour or so, but now I want to start running and would like to know if any of you started from the beginning and what good tips can you give in starting this training, thank you.

I have ran 7 marathons and my advice to you is to subscribe to runner's world magazine and read as many books about running as you can. Find the best training program that fits your running style (recreational, competitive, etc.) Choose a marathon that has a flat course. Start by running a weekly mileage and increase the number of miles every two to three weeks. Do that for at least 6 month and then start thinking about what marathon you want to run. Start your training 16 weeks before the marathon. Listen to your body and no matter what a book, a coach, or the best training program says, in the training period you will learn when your body needs to rest, and how hard, and how much you need to push.0
