To track or not to track?

I tracked my food intake religiously for a few months, and now I think I have a solid enough grasp on portion size and guess-timations on calories to eat sensibly without tracking my food every day. So far things have been going well, and my weight loss has continued. Has anyone else decided to stop tracking after awhile, and if so, how did it go? Is there anyone that would be absolutely lost without being able to track? And is there anyone that has seen weight loss success without tracking at all?

I'm really interested to see some opinions on this. =)

Its up to you. =) You could try for a few weeks and if you feel like you need to go back to tracking then do so. I personally need it still.

I could quit. Heck I reached my initial loss goal many months ago.

But.... its not like its hard. I mean, entering stuff in my phone takes away from valuable Twitter reading or Angry Birds time, like 30 seconds or so. Its so untedious, there is just no reason to stop.

Smartphones and calorie counting are a match made in heaven. Its just so easy. Prior to the smartphone era calorie counting was much more labor intensive. Being able to easily control your weight via calorie counting is one of the more useful things a smartphone can do.

Same here. I started maintaining in February. I stopped logging weekends, times when I am traveling....but generally, logging is quick and painless so I still do it. I just don't sweat it if I miss some days here and there, however I am a firm believer in doing whatever works for you.

I am still in the early stages and I need it. I also agree that having a smart phone now makes tracking much easier. It is a part of my daily routine and I will probably track most days even when I get to maintenance stage.
