What is up with me ???

Last night I sat down to have Chicken Jambalaya, a Marks and Spencer low calorie (360cal) 400g meal (per meal size). I could barely eat half of it, I hadn't over-ate during the day but my body just wouldn't let me eat more. A couple of months back I'd of knocked that bad boy back in 5seconds.

My question is : Is this caused by a change in mind set, is it genuinely my stomach telling me it's full or shrinking so can't handle so much ?

Cheers y'all

There are more variables involved than just stomach size. Basically, when you get your body used to running on less, it gets all kinds of pissed when you try to give it more. This is a big reason why bulking/cutting phasing can suck so bad for the first couple of weeks.
  • Could be because you're drinking more water (if you are).

But it could also be psychological. I used to simply love crisps, and now feel ill at the thought of them. It's just because now I know how revolting, nutritionally poor and fatty they are.

Yes to the water, 8 weeks of pure water. In that time I've had a couple of hot chocolates but apart from that all I've drank is water water water. I'm not complaining just seems weird. Ewwww crisps haven't touched them in about 10-12years

Hormones leptin and ghrelin get messed up when at a deficit. These impact hunger signals.

It's more like they go back to normal levels after being screwed up by years of overeating. :)

Nope - they get messed up on a deficit also.

I second the "messed up" and if you disagree then read the scientific literature

Oh, I don't disagree. I was more poking fun at an obvious fact. That being that overweight people have completely screwed up hormone balances, and it takes time for them to come back down to base level, and even more time for them to dip into the lower end.

Well then make that point in context and not by looking like you are disagreeing with an answer that actually relates to the OPs question.

You're assuming linearity. I don't think any evidence supports the idea that to go from one end of the spectrum (overeating and hormonal imbalances resulting from this) to the other end (dieting and hormonal imbalances resulting from caloric deficits) that you pass through "normal." I am quite certain that you can stay in MESSED UP territory by overeating and then drastically restricting calories.
