BodyFitMedia... skepticle about the burn

Does anyone else doubt the numbers they get form their BFM device?

I got it, and wear it all the time... Almost as soon as I get up it says I have burned 300 cal.. After eating breakfast and riding my motorcycle into work it say I have burned 1000 cal.... REALLY. Do you see these HUGE burn rates for getting out of bed and going to work?

Then when I work out HARD for 35 min on the elliptical trainer it says I burned 300 cal... huh !!!!

1000 for riding a motorcycle to work.
300 for vigorous cardio training
And a short 1 mile walk burned almost 400 cal!!!!!!!

Are these observations consistent with what you have seen since using the BMF? I'm not complaining but I am very skeptical right now.

Gotta admit that at times I go HUH also.............things I expect to get alot of burn from I don't and others that I think I shouldn't I do... BUT............................over the course of a day it must be pretty damn accurate cuz I've been at goal/maintenance for about 18 months and have maintained my weight w/an average daily deficit of 150-250. I run that deficit cuz I don't log every single lower calorie thing I eat.
The 300 (or whatever) calories burned you see first thing in the morning are what you burned since midnight. Not sure about the motorbike but I know I get moderate activity when I'm on the tractor. It also records lots of steps but I KNOW that isn't correct.
I'm guessing you are pretty heavy (based on amount of weight you want to lose) so you really do burn alot of calories just to support that weight -- and that number increases quickly when you start moving. I weigh 140 lbs and at rest (ie sitting around) I burn less than 1 calorie a minute. Moderate activity for me means a burn of 3-6 cals/minute and I when I'm over 6 cals/minute I am doing vigorous activity. On a lazy day (which still includes about 1 hour moderate activity cuz I still have to feed the animals), I burn under 1700 cals for the whole day.
