Have you tried any of the Walk Away the Pounds videos by Leslie Sansone? They're low impact.

Im curious to see the replies..I do love to work out but my knees definitely do not....Squats and lunges are out of the picture:( I basically walk a lot and use dumbbells for my upper body..Anything that doesn't place any stress or strain on my knees works for me..Im hoping to get a recumbent bike since they are supposed to be easy on the knees...

Ask the instructor for the low impact modification for what ever movement she is doing.

maybe talk to your Zumba teacher, she should be able to give you some low impact options. Or try Jazzercise, these teachers will definitely help you with that, they are always showing all the options and are very trained at that!

Good Luck, when I started my weight loss journey, my knees were bad to, now, I've resolved it!

If you're stuck with low impact workouts because of knee problems then the best things you can do are weight training using compound lifts doing more moderate intensity loads (failure in 12-15 reps basically) and calisthenics. For cardio there's walking. The Leslie Sansone videos mentioned above are great.

If you're not afraid of water, try water aerobics :) water is really easy on your joints and a good instructor will always give you modifications!

I agree, when my knees started bothering me my doctor told me to go back to water aerobics. I can feel the difference. I do water aerobics 3x a week and pilates or scuplting the other 2 days. Also try pilates or yoga, they are pretty low impact. I was worried about doing the pilates since it doesn't burn as many calories as my cardio videos, but I can sure feel it the next few days.

Do you have a membership to a gym? I don't like the feeling I get in my knees either when i work out so I prefer the Elliptical crosstrainer. It has a rolling motion that doesn't irritate like walking does.
