Exercises for partial meniscus tear in knee

I recently was diagnosed with a partial tear to the meniscus in my knee. My Doctor for the time being is not recommending surgery but said I need to work on strengthening my quads. One exercise he recommended placing my back against a wall and squatting until my legs are at a 45 degree angle and hold it for 30 seconds. I will get bored fast performing one exercise. Anyone have suggestions for additional exercises? Thanks in advance!
