Daily Nutrient Details... Sugar Intake

I just learned about my daily nutrient details today... i was looking them over and they look pretty good.. but every day, i go over on my sugars.. and i eat so little of them. really two teaspoons sugar in my coffee... 1/3 honey nut cheerieos.. and whatever sugar is hiding in my other diet foods.. feel free to check my food diary.. is it so bad? i seem to be losing steadily so maybe i'm just fussing where i don't need to be.. but those red numbers are bugging the bajeezus out of me!!!

I try not to focus on my sugars. When I get closer to my goal and ((if)) I plateau, then I will re-evaluate macronutrients. I really wish that table sugar and fructose were in separate catagories... I eat a lot of fruits and veggies and I do have a sweet tooth, which I try to limit, but I ALWAYS go over. I don't focus on it because I know my fruits contributed to the "red" numbers and I don't think I should limit my fruits. I swear, if I could manage to get my 5 a day, surely that would put me over every time!

Just looked at your diary and there is sugar in everything you're eating just about :frown: But it's all different types of sugar. Dairy has natural sugars in it and so does fruit. Your fruit cups with light syrup, I'm assuming, has high fructose corn syrup? Like I said, I wouldn't focus on it... but if it really bothers you, you could try to cut out some of the added sugars. Like trade in your fruit cups in syrup for either fresh fruit or fruit cups in 100% fruit juice... and/or switch to a lower sugar cereal. Food companies know that sugar is addicting, which is why it's in just about every processed food out there... they want you to keep coming back for more. Pay close attention to your labels if you're really concerned!

this is great advice! thanks so much! i'll apply those ideas! i eat the cups because they are easy, and the cereal because it's my son's brand. but i'll break down and buy my own.. i suppose i'm ready for that.. maybe splenda for the coffee too.. one a day shouldn't be too bad.. i try to stay away from artificial sweeteners in general.. but i can't stand unsweetened coffee but i need the caffeine!
